I wish they would bring back the ranking system for each weight class, instead fighting for the BK or Everlast title after 4 or 5 fights.

It needs and entire overhaul. I also want to know how good the fighters are that I am fighting, who they have beat, etc.

i liked the physics of 2004
liked the journeyman / hard working / honest style of round 2
and the graphics of round 3
but the physics in round 3 was awful. it was like legends of boxing on the sinclar.too much brawling you cant box well or you just knock em out with a jab
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
here everything flows right every punch can flow to the other one
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
this is one shot action pure gatti-ward type stuff which makes a great beat em up...but it's boxing how hard does it have to be.
look at the differnece how slow is round 3!!!!
has anyone played Victorious Boxers on ps2...amazing physics are great have a look on youtube the gmae is very cartoony(wonder why that is :lol)but the game is so solid

Is ity gonna have more than 8 boxers in the game?
I remember having so much fun cleaning out the heavyweight division with Sonny Liston in the first one :-)

haven't heard anything of it so far, it wasn't even announced, was it?
as most said, hope they lots of boxers. Wheres Tyson?
Weird thing is, with every new edition, they reduce the amount of boxers in it. it used to have Liston and lewis in one of the older installments. Maybe fight night 5 would have 4 boxers total.
but I definitely remember reading that kudo (the producer) was talking about making a new Wii boxing game, imagine wii sports boxing game , but a LOT better :dead

FNR3 was a damn god game, I have no complaints about it. Mayb for evry other system but the 360 it was wack. But i got it 4 360 and that game is hardbody. Its the best version for all the systems IMO. as far as graphic wise and evrything else

did anyone find FNRND 3 too slow?? dunno if it was just the xbox version that I have but I could see every punch coming and parry everything.
Kudo said that when the make the new one they want to do what they did with the 3rd. I think he means making a game that will revolutionise the graphics and gameplay. If they add Hearns they'd have the fab 4.
Is it just me or is walking to the ring with the burger king not the most stupid and blatent advertising ever. Even Ricky Hatton wouldn't do that for a year's supply.

completely agree. They need way more. Hell, Id even settle for 10 per class. Maybe more weight classes too, I think featherweight was as low as it went in the last one I bought. I think they could do a better job selecting thefighters they get too. I mean round 2 was missing TONS of fighters, as Im sure everybody is aware, but they made sure they got the great Mike Anchondo. WTF is that? If you can only get a few fighters, make it count, and get the best!!
I guess its a good thing for video game fans when sports have Players Unions. Then all they have to do is come to an agreement with the PA, and they get all the football, hockey, baseball, etc. players in the union for the game. With boxing, Im guessing they have to negotiate with all of them individually which makes it difficult to get ALL the top guys, or even close to it. Which of course sucks for the fans. But I dont think it will change anytime soon, unless boxers are all of a sudden willing to take less money to appear in the game, or the fight night people get a bigger budget to work with.

word lol, you can only parry the punches, y is that :huh
Your rival punches you in the face at the weigh-in and then elbows or head butts you once your in the ring. They must have Bhop as a technical advisor.

I dont know, I try letting the guy knock me out to see if it makes a difference but...nothing. Thats a bitch. You get to fuck me up but I am so weight drained that I cant fight back...lol
These are some of the notable fighters from the previous fight night games;
Lewis, Marciano, Liston, Trinidad, Marquez bros, Mayweather, Cotto, Mosley, Mayorga and Tarver. There skills and ratings are usually messed up, Rafa Marquez is the weakest puncher in the game.

round 2 was the best as far as game play faster and better handling. the rank system was great i once got to 83 fight on career mode with a create a player. fought him till he was 50 and stayed undefeated . also like the top 10 for ko's records and stuff. rd1 was good cuz they showed tyou your last 5 fight and showed your opponets last 5 .they should of just kept the game system for rd 2 and improved graphic rd 3 is way to sloy and the parry's and counters suck
What they need to do is make the gameplay better. More strategies, more styles, Better AI. Otherwise they should stop making these.

I think I would like to see an overhaul by this point too (though I seriously doubt it'll happen).
They've still never attempted to develop an in-fighting system. Clinches are just basically grab-hold-release, all in about 2 seconds, useful for nothing except gaining about a pixel line or two of energy back.
In-fighting is a big part of many fighter's game. How about some form of mini 'tug-o-war' or something, where each fighter tries to use their size and weight to get leverage to get their punches off on the inside? Clamping down on someone and leaning your weight on them to sap energy should also be a tactic. Let the fighters be able to have a forehead-to-forehead war if they want it.
And on the opposite side of the scale, I want to be able to cruise to a shut-out points victory with stick 'n' move. The jab feels too sluggish at times, never knocking an opponent back or even shake them. They just practically ignore them. And the movement, especially on the vertical plane, can be very awkward as well.
Finally - the workrate. Especially for the HWs, it's far far too high. You can have guys chucking 100+ a round for 12 rounds. Whenever I did some fight simulations here, I had to put the round timer right down to 1 minute each because that was the only way to get a comperable HW workrate of about 40-50 punches per round thrown. Jabs in particular, man, you can throw those things like there's no tomorrow.

Trouble with the parry is that, while fine in principle, it just looks so dopey when a fighter is standing there slack-jawed with their hands down at their waist. Again I think it's a factor of aiming at the casual audience, giving a novice lots of time to get in a counter punch, but it doesn't cut the mustard for me.
I did like how 3 introduced more boxing styles and punching styles - Judge Jab, Mummy, Wild, Hook Master and so on - they just need to make even more of these.
And there's nothing wrong with cosmetics, of course! ;)
I miss the little things like having a ref intro and glove touch, or in-ring introductions, or a proper post-fight points decision annoucement.
When you're playing in Career Mode, and especially if you're a champion-level fighter, they should go the whole hog - at present, you just get that rival cutscene on the weigh-in where you have to block his punches.
How about a pre-fight press conference to announce the fight (with opportunity for a verbal or physical confrontation)? A proper weigh-in, reflecting on how well you've trained? A post-fight press conference as well to glory in your win and set your sights on a new opponent, or comiserate with your loss and lobby for a rematch? Hell, I'd even settle for that old 'spinning newpaper' cliche showing the results of my fight!
All of it should be skippable of course for the impatient, perhaps even have options to turn each of them off, but having them available all helps with the atmosphere and building your involvement.
A big fight is not the same without the proper build-up and sizzle.
A full record of your fight results would also be great, in a Boxrec style.

-the counter should stay but should be weak you have to time it with the punch not just hold a guard in a certain place. a jab should be flicked away and not make you lunge forewward like you threw your whole body wieght behind it. and you should rely on ducking the punches slipping and countering with a right hand...then we will have some real counters.i mean has anyone in real life parried a haymaker like that:huh
power punchesshould be removed peoples chin should be improved or more damagte taking and better defence i can jab my way to a ko:lol: makes sense...i can knock a man out with a jab!!!
so leave the stun punches, the ko punches and flash knockdown punches we want hard punches but not these wild pull back things.
career is good but there is no build up. it's just like a conveyer belt of bums to fight.also how many guys are way too small or tall for the division!!! i caqn bulk myself up to look like a heavywieght at welter doesnt make sense. you should be given a task to reach the wieght limit if you have to train to get it

I agree with some posters that Round 2 was better overall than Round 3 ...
As far as Round 4 goes, I'm speculating, they just came out with Round 3 for PS3, so I'd assume Round 4 will be out sometime next year ...

According to site admin on the easports forum (as of 15th july) he hadnt heard anything about fnr4 being released, but assumed it would be somepoint down the line due to the sucess of fnr3
Maybe we should have our fnr3 online tourney (im sure something could be sorted)

Even though It would be hard to secure the rights ... They need to have real titles in the game (WBA,WBC,IBF,WBO), maybe even promotions (Top Rank, Golden Boy) ...
On a personal note, you can't make a game without all of it's main stars ... I loved whoopin' Mayweather's a$$ in Round 2 with Mosley.

and stop with the percentage training stats!!!!
Some boxer just will never be that fast, or have that good a chin and no amount of punching the bag is going to change that. have some stats fixed or at a clear maximum.
Or better yet, get rid of the stupid mini-games and replace it with a training schedule where you focus the fighters training to a particular aim (crisper punching, volume punching, footwork, general stamina) - adding a level of strategy to the bout.
Allow for automatic rematches following a loss - if they beat you, you can look at the rankings and ask for another fight.:good
has anyone played ready to rumble boxing the training is all in oppostis you will never be the strongest hitter you'll nevr be the fastest becvuase when you train your power will go up but you stamina will go down ECT you'll get to a very high abilty but you'll never top it you'll never hit 100%

The PS3 version is even better. But i think round 3 is to slow, if you watch the video you clearly see that Toney should be much faster, but Holyfield as well. The moves look verry good an realistic but its to slow.

A lot of good points made. I myself would prefer to have a ranking system. Fighting for BK and Dodge titles is beyond stupid. The rivalries nees more depth. Instead of having the ABC boys in it, i'd rather just have you fight for regional, national, continentel and eventually world titles. But you'd be able to hold all of them at the same time or due to circumstances, be able to "duck", yes I said it, "duck" a fighter to get a shot at a title.

They have to bare in mind though that if they're going to include PBF in the next game they will need to dedicate a button to sprinting
I love FNR3 been having a go at it today actually. They definitely need to add a few more styles. I vote for "track and field" "hug n'hit" "the 3rd fist" and "the blatant low blow" to add to the realism.
In all honesty though, the thing it really misses is a realistic career mode and a few more big names to spice it up. Some less boring training games would be good too. Also the fact that you win every single fight by KO is pretty retarded.
DamonD
08-10-2007, 08:59 AM
Proper rankings tables would be good. I'd like to see a 'risk-reward' factor like that, having the opportunity to try to take on someone much higher than you to raise your rank higher with a win, but risk falling lower with a loss.
I'd also appreciate an expanded amateur division. Not just a few random fights, let you work up to national, international and even Olympic titles. Let you remain an amateur as long as you like, even your whole career if you want.

No they are not developing a game right now the 3rd one i still selling well, Ea sport still haven't make anuy anoucment for 4 one, but the 3 was a succes so in the future i'm sure they will make another one.
they need to chill with the legends, only current boxers and there should be codes to unlock the legends...they need a code for prime Tyson...otherwise they can set it up just like Rd 3 for 360 and i'm good...

Lots of good points. The 1 thing yall missed that drives me nuts is the fighters don't come to the ring in robes. They don't even walk all the way from the dressing room! WTF!!!!!! No fighter walks to the ring with no robe or at least a towel on like Tyson used to do. The ring walk should be much more elaborate. They should let you pick what music you want for your favorite fighter's ring walk too. Or just have a system where you can completely customize their ring walk.

For Fight Night Round 4 I'dlike to see...
More Boxers in each division...
A longer and more detailed Amateur part...
More training things...
Maybe like a Hall OF Fame mode like in Madden 07 where ya gain credability and stuff by fighting good opposition and good fights and loose it for fighting bad opposition...

They should show the announcers building up the fight before it starts and they should have Larry Merchant do in ring interviews with the winner and loser. We need to get on the EA message board with these ideas.

Your right bout the negotitation thing man its makes it harder to get all the top guys..... personally though i dont see why people wouldnt want to be in the game... if i was P4P champ i would loove to be a part of it and create characters and beat myself up lol and i would let them put me in cheap as..... but all the top boxers prob take themselves to seriously and dont want even a made up computerized version of themselves getting beat.

With the online capabilities of the newer systems, they should really capitalize and offer Downloadable Boxers on a pay per basis. I create my own boxers and I'm meticulous in doing so but it would be nice to go online, pay $4.99 and get a professionally rendered "Miguel Cotto" for instance, complete with his authentic trunks, and a recognized name in the database so that the commentators would call his name instead of calling him "animal" or "sledgehammer". It would also be nice if you could download ringwalk music. You could do that on the original WWE game for XBox.
