Which two fights were better in your opinion?
Before I give my opinion, I will say that Corrales vs Castillo I was the best of the four fights in my opinion, for its all out action, its legendary finish, and what it means to me as a fight fan now that Corrales is not here with us fight fans. Round 10 lives on in all fight fans hearts.
However, I would select the Marquez vs. Vasquez fights as better fights and here is why:
1. They show incredible technical ability mixed with just the right amount of guts and attrition.
2. They have had two great fights, whereas the Castillo vs Corrales rematch was marred in controversy with Castillo not making weight.
3. The fights are short but sweet. I dont believe that too much long term damage is being accrued by either fighter and that is better for both fighters as well as us as fans because we will see them be great again (Corrales and Castillo didnt ever seem quite the same, as well as Ward and Gatti).
4. The fights are fought without bravado taking over one fighter. I though Corrales was clearly the better outside fighter than Castillo but chose at times to mix it up on the inside to our excitement but to his detriment.
5. The fights are fought at all ranges, both inside and outside and with great transitions from the inside to the outside.
