View Full Version : Who gave Gatti the worst beating?

I didn't include those good 2 way battles like Robinson I, Ward I, Rodriguez, etc....Just the one-sided beatings.

Which was the worst?

Pretty Boy...Gatti just fell to his knees after that flurry..looked kinda funny but sad at the same time.

Where's the poll?

Even though he had gone through several beatings, I think the one that Alfonzo gave him was the worst.

Floyd killed him, that was damn sad what he did to Gatti. Gatti eyes was closed, his face was beatup. He could barely stand. And wat made it worst was that gatti was tryin his hardest to actually do soemthin. But he just couldnt. Sad so sad.

1.PBF
2.Oscar
3.Gomez

All 3 were beautiful in their own way.
PBF's was just a one-sided clinic from the opening bell, a truly virtuoso performance. The combo punching from PBF in that fight took me back to the days of a prime Roy Jones.

Oscar beat the dog shit out of Gatti and stopped him.

Gomez a bit of a surprise because I didn't think gomez was any good but he worked Gatti and gave him a boxing lesson everything he did that night worked.

PBF made him look the worst but I bet DLH put more hurt on him. He was cut and bloody, and knocked down by a huge left. The Mayweather fight was twice as worse for his ego but it seemed like DLH was toying with him. I'm sure he felt those DLH shots a lot more.

Baldomir rules on this one, but of the choices listed . . . maybe Floyd.

And for the thread, I give it a 3 way tie. Floyd was more one sided. Gomez was more long and drawn out. ODH was short and painful. But Gatti did hit ODH a few times with some good shots. I dont think he touched floyd or gomez. But 3 way tie.

Mayweather also fought a world champion 140 Gatti... Whereas Dela Hoya fought an out-of-shape welterweight Gatti...

While Dela Hoya probably gave Gatti the worse beating, that in no way detracts from what Floyd did... Oh, so and so beat fighter A in round 1, when so and so only got fighter A in round 2...

They both mashed him! ... And then Mayweather beat Hoya himself. Go figure.

i picked Mayweather b/c Gatti had absolutely NOTHING going for him in that fight. He didnt win any 15 second span of that fight. At least against DLH he landed a few nice shots.

And I disagree that DLH fought a better Gatti. Gatti was on his best streak since probably the Patterson-Ruelas streak when he faced Mayweather, with 5 good wins and a title victory. Before fighting DLH he had four wins against very padded opposition and went up two divisions in that span

10 rounds, and only the first one did Gatti take a real bad beating, although his hands took a beating on Ward's head and hip in the 2nd and 3rd fights.

I didn't want to include the close fights that Gatti took a beating in.

mayweather......gatti couldnt talk after the fight he was speaking giberish in his corner......the sad thing though when you couldnt understand him and he couldnt open his eyes that giberish talk was asking for another round....thats a warrior

It depends what you mean by worst beating.

Floyd's fight was the most one-sided and clinical.

Oscar's was nastier, more brutish and shorter.

man i saw that Floyd fight and gatti was busted up, he wasnt blocking anything, it looked like he wanted to get hit, so i guess thats what he gets and that is why he got knocked out in the 6th or 7th if i remember correctly. That was the worst beating he has taken but he gets a pretty bad beating in all of his fights even when he wins bcuz he dont block.

LeedsLad

I think out of those Floyd gave him the biggest beating. Though Oscar did fight a better version, both Gatti and Ward were never the same again after there trilogy.

Gomez a bit of a surprise because I didn't think gomez was any good but he worked Gatti and gave him a boxing lesson everything he did that night worked.i got to say great performance from a man who was turning into a novalty act showed how damn quick and devastatign he could be in the higher wieghts.

but it wasnt really a good tactic for gatti to outbox him standing feet wide apart while he tried to use shoulder rolls which he never ever used.

i'll say floyds was but remember gatti wasnt gatti that night

Gatti also handed out some good beatings, like to remember Gatti as a honest fighter who gave what he had and didn't trash talk other fighters. Sure he was limited and not on the level of some...but do you think Gomez would have beaten Gatti in his prime? Not me.

yup I agree and you also have question Gatti reason for coming back and the event that took place in his personal life leading up to the Gomez fight.

I said this after the fight and I am saying it now: Gatti should have retired after the first Ward fight. He's in grave danger, health-wise, now.

PBF.

I think it was one of those fights where had Gatti tried to keep fighting, he would've been killed or suffered serious injuries. I have seldom seen a guy get hit that easily and hard. Let's remember he wasn't KOed. The corner stopped the fight after 8.

Well logicaly he should had retired after the triology cause loosing one fight to ward is not gonna help your legacy.

Well beating Ward twice only does so much (or little) for your legacy on the flipside.

I think De la Hoya's beating was the worst but Oscar kind of held back in that fight IMO to carry Gatti a few rounds. I think Oscar did more damage than Floyd and Gomez but in the end I gave the nod to Floyd because at the very least Floyd was absolutely flawless in a very dominating performance. Gatti had nothing going from start to finish, not even a combination.

08-30-2007, 03:46 PM
Gatti just didn't know to defend the left side of his head against Floyd's right. For sure his corner must have repeatedly instructed him to get his left up, but Gatti just remained open there and kept getting hit you'd cry.
