Ricky Hatton is a fat waster outside of fight night.
FACT.
The bastard still seems to win fights though.

It goes against everything the experts say, but just suppose that he would be a lesser fighter if he didn't enjoy his rewards? Shit, i like to enjoy myself when i do well at stuff, i wouldn't try so hard if i didn't. Northern lads drink too much, it's just the way it is.

What would you spend it on?
Don't idolise him for that, please.
What the fuck is money compared to boxing immortality? I'll tell you what, fuck all.

Money, it can buy you a house, a car, clothes, food, tv, computers, holidays in the sun, pay all your bills etc, but really what can it buy you...it cant buy you happiness...it cant buy you love...it bloody helps though.

He isn't normal, hes a fucking idiot, thats exactly why he'll never be an elite fighter like Mayweather, Pacquaio and co because he gets drunk and eats pies between fights, this "i'm normal" shit is just a con to sell tickets to.

So, but for the drinking and eating he'd be "elite" (whatever the hell that means)? Given his style/ abilities I think he's achieved pretty much everything he was capable of achieving, poor lifestyle or not, its not has if he's had a bad career.

Please, Put a sock in it. Same old bla bla bla. He's been doing it all his career. He outclassed a good boxer (who probably has a very good lifestyle) in every department. Give him a break and look forward to his next fight.

I don't think Ricky is ever in as bad shape as he looks.
He just has a fat, ugly face which doesn't carry weight very well and makes him look very puffy. Doesn't help that he wears clothes two sizes too big for him either.

Money isn't important but lack of money is. That's the best way to view things. Unless you revert to living on a farm and becoming self sufficient, basically reverting back to how we lived a few hundred years ago, we need a certain amount of money to survive. What money brings is power and opportunity so from that pov it's very important.

Yeah I know, that to a degree, it is important:good
I was just having a wee go at the guy who said he wouldn't mind being a waster with such-and-such amount of money in the bank (in the context of the Ricky Hatton conversation); I just didn't like that attitude.
But who am I to tell people how to live their lives; I'll let it lie next time.

how many boxers or ex boxers on here can't say hattons style is exciting.
to me in his fight against kosta,he was punch perfect, head and feet movement was perfect, turning on the ropes, perfect, body punching ,perfect, thats what wore down one of the best P4P boxers of our generation.even at 35 he would of beat anyone out there at the time at the weight.
And thats all from a fat ,pie eating ,beer swilling northern monkey.not bad in my humble opinion

.it cant buy you happiness...it cant buy you love...it bloody helps though.
Thats corny cliched BS.It can;
If a person cant make themselves happy with great wealth, there is something very wrong.A month in Bavaria would make me very happy right now.Can i do it?Can i fuk.
You can afford to indulge yourself in anything that makes you happy, ergo happiness.
Moreover, you have a far,far greater chance of getting the girl of your dreams if you're loaded.
All the Footie wags wouldnt be with the guys if they werent rich footballers, yet if you asked them, they would swear blind that they truly love the guy.Its totally conditional, but they virtually brainwash themselves into loving them.

Im probably too far the other way TBH.

It's been said for years that Ricky's lifestyle outside the ring will catch up with him inside the ring. In reality though, he's been a pro for over 11 years and is a 46 fight veteran and at the very top of the light welterweight division.
That would still be good going if he lived like Bernard Hopkins or PBF. I say good luck to the guy.

If you're saying its not your God Mac,fine, mine either.
But to say it cant buy you shit is wrong.A house, holidays, car, woman etc of your choice is what you can buy.
If i was a millionaire i would be on an exotic beach now with a dollybird and unlimited booze.

Don't get me wrong SD; it was just a bit of a drunken philosophical rant (money bought me those beers...those beers made me happy...therefore I'm a bit of a hyporcite).
What I meant was in the end, when your laying on your death bed, and all that you have to look back on in your life is booze, sex and general physical wealth; I don't think that is life well lived. Fun and happiness are two very different things; generally money gives you the chance to have more "fun"; I don't think it can truly make you "happy" (that has more to do with the person you are, and the affect that you have on those around you and that they have on you).
Remember fight club: "the things you own end up owning you". Its such a true statement, and its a violent spiral; once you make money the goal in your life, you can never have enough of it; there is always an excuse to try and accumulate more; usually you give up on your own aspirations and transfer energy to your kids, convincing yourself that you are doing it for them, that you are leaving them a good inheritance; but, you're really only betraying yourself.
I'm smart enough to realise that I'm still not smart enough; knowledge is my god.

Didn't say it was of no object.
If you see the passage of mine that you yourself quoted I said it wasn't the be-all-and-end-all; thats all.
I'm not blind; I agree with nearly all the stuff you said in your big paragraph above (except for the weed).

I recall the sainted Buncey having an article published in the Scottish press where he more-or-less suggested that Hatton needed to screw the nut for a year or two. The gist of the article was that he'd been able to get away with the "I'll chuck the curries and pints before I fight and go on a slimfast diet (even got my own company)" approach, but that this would become harder and harder as he got older. He then suggested that as he'd only have a few years left at the top, why not dedicate his life to boxing and reap the rewars later once retired. (I think that's a pretty accurate recollection.) I'm all for having a week or two off post-fight, but Ricky does seem to take it to extremes. I wonder what his medical people think of his liver and cholestorol counts! Floyd Senior must be having kittens!!
Another way of looking at what Bunce was saying was that Hatton has a unique opportunity to amass enough money to last a lifetime. Why not stay in peak condition for a year or two - makes making the weight easier and maintains focus etc. In other words, be professional in every way - you've the rest of your life to fuck it up - go to AA, Weightwatchers etc. The problem is that when it comes to boxing, most of us have never been blessed with his raw talent and ability. Then again, when it comes to pressing the self-destruct button, most of us would be joining him in the starting line-up for Oliver Reed's starting eleven (or should that be XV as I gather he liked that other game).
