I would say Froch, JC has hardly been hit and has still been put down a few times. On Saturday night Froch took some hard shots and didn't look anywhere near going down...

Can't really say.

Calzaghe has been decked four times, but has faced a much superior level of opposition.

Exactly, Calzaghe has been in against punchers like Eubank,Kessler,Lacy,Hopkins and Jones(over the hill I know but he can still punch) Once Froch has faced boxers at that level we can make a comparison.

Calzaghe, he's faced harder punchers, and better fighters and you can count the number of times on one hand he's been hurt, and he recovers amazingly well.

People are acting like Froch is Hagler in there. He was stunned a couple of times. Very good chin no doubt, but lets get some perspective and see what happens.

Kessler I felt hurt Calzaghe pretty bad in the fourth, he was clinging for a bit but recovered well - it was probably what kicked him into life in that fight.

Kessler hit Calzaghe a lot harder than Hopkins did when he knocked him down. I think he was hurt far worse. The only difference was Hopkins caught him cold in round 1 when he's not got a feel for taking shots, and the shot was sneaky. He didn't see that one at all.

People need to watch Froch closely. He was stunned briefly on Saturday a few times. He's got a very good chin considering the number of clean punches he takes but he's not unhurtable. If a puncher like Kessler was hitting him with that number of shots I say he goes down and maybe out. I'm not convinced it matches Andrade's.

I'd say he was hurt about three times probably.

Kessler has a jab like a piston and will most likely frustrate him with it for a short while, then get the straight right and the uppercut (which is underused) into action as Froch leaves himself open.

I wouldn't bother standing and fighting with Froch, I would draw him forward.

Hard to say but I'd be tempted to say Calzaghe...some of the wars he's been in and not even flinched...yes he's been down 4 times (in a career spanning twice as many fights as froch) but has recovered well everytime and faced bigger punchers.

We'll see though! If froch keeps the title long enough to face a big puncher.

'sup Flint, couldn't you work out how to do a poll?? :DI think he had his polling rights revoked due to over using them in Enzo Macc threads.

Joe has the more proven chin, and we know it's first rate. Froch's chin is clearly good but has he really been hit that hard? Pascal is not noted as a particularly big hitter, yet Froch looked uncomfortable several times.

The way Froch got tagged cleanly, and often, leads me to believe he will probably get stopped at some point in his career. His chin may well be theoretically and technically better than Joe's, but there's more to it than that.
When Joe gets hit hard and is hurt (as he was against Kessler) he makes subtle changes to his style and ups his game. Froch's approach seems to be fight fire with fire, which results in him shipping more punches than needed. This will take it's toll as the level of opponent increases, and I feel his chin will ultimately not be quite as good as it seems to be at the moment.

Froch has had 1 title fight... Calzaghe 20 odd. In the first 20 f those joe was down twice. At the moment I'd give Joe the nod but Carl could go on to show more.

Both got good chins.

But joe has been tonked a few times and shook up.

Froch was shaken up by Pascal, Pascal isn't the hardest puncher in the world! Calzaghe even though he has been down a few times he has remarkable punch resistence and can recover in a heartbeat. So as far as i can see Calzaghe has the best chin.

depends how you judge it. Is having a good chin mean that you cannot go down ? I don't see it just like that. Sure JC has been down a few times, but he has always got up, and come back stonger, taking shots harder than the shots that knocked him down.

People like Chris Eubank ... renowned for having a granite chin, was down a few times, does not mean you have a glass jaw or anything. It does not matter how hard your chin is, if you get flush more often or not you will go down, the guys who get up and shake it off and come back stronger, are the guys you can say have a good chin.

I would say Froch at this moment in time. Feel Joes punch resistance ain't what it used to be.

From what Ive seen (and thats not much of Froch), he would probably stay on his feet longer than Calzaghe, but Calzaghe has very good powers of recovery.

It's impossible to know how good Froch's chin is. He took some good shots the other night but that Pascale... I don't think she's a big powerful puncher like a prime Reid. Calzaghe took some tremendous shots that night. Both have got great chins but I'd like to reserve judgement on who's is best until Froch's gets checked a bit more.

One thing's for sure, Amir Khan would take either chin.

joes chin is not what it used to be. joes chin is good at the start of the fight but by round 3 or 4 has been pushed up to world class granite

Froch took some big shots against pascal

Calzaghe got floored by a short right.

Calzaghe is harder to hit, froch takes the better shot

Froch took some heavy shots and was still standing, after round 2 i predicted that Froch would fold and get knocked down or tko'd in the latter of the rounds.Boy was i wrong!

Calzaghe definately, yeah he's be floored 4 times, but the shots that put him down would have put anyone down, with the exception of the jones shot maybe. The fact that he has got up fresh every time shows how good his chin is. And for the majority of his knock downs he has either been off balance as in the Kalem fight, or caught flush with full body weight connections such as the Bhop or Mitchell fight.

Also, look at the big shots he took in the Bhop, Kessler, and even the Jones fight which didn't even phase him.

As for Froch, he seems tough with a good chin, but Pascal isn't a huge puncher, we've yet to see him get 'properly' hit.

Point is, Calzaghes chin is tried and tested, so far Frochs isn't.

THe cobra could take a shot from prime Tyson and only get wobbled. His chin is seriously super duper fantastic.

Froch has the better chin, Calzaghe however would be harder to stop due to his sheer will to fight on an recover.

Froch hasnt really been tested yet,so far his chin looks sound.Joe has been down but always gets up.He just seems to get caught a bit cold sometimes.I would go with Joe he did take some good shots against Kessler and Jones.

I tell you what..

Froch's dad is the harder of the two.

The guy was apparently one seriously hard mofo who ran the doors of Nottinggham for years and years.

Survived multiple beatings and an axe attack !
