Anyone ever seen him fight?

Hell of a chin. Never even been off his feet, I think, and he's been in there with some bad dudes.

Gives a hard time to just about anyone, I think. Underrated.

Yeah, he's been at it again recently, I think.

he was a very respectable contender and had a repectable performance against Kotzya, but when he was a prospect almost contender he lost to a very shot Juan Molina, so he was nothing special any that he have a heck of a chin

Seen him fight a couple of times. He was a tough but limited fighter.Couldn't quite win the big one when he stepped up but always gave it a good run.:good

strong gatekeeper type guy

lost to tsyzu in a decent performance
was unlucky to lose to sharmba mitchell really when sharmba was 140 champ
lost to hatton by practically every round in his next fight but to be fair this was an excellent performance by hatton

gatekeeper to the top 5 at that time

gatekeeper to the top 20 these days...

Exactly. That summarizes Tackie to a "T." Just a level below the very top and always gave a solid effort.

I remember vividly the amount of people that were certain Tackie would knock off Tszyu. It was a suprising amount.

Their reasoning was that Tackie would be relentless and wear Kostya down. That it was a bad style matchup for Kostya. I guess I could see their reasoning especially after Tackie brutalized Teddy Reid. I actually had a dream where Tackie Ko'd Tszyu in the 11th which was weird and sorta ominous for me because I dont usually dream about boxing. But on the night Tszyu gave him a pooning of a lifetime, he was never the same after that fight.

Ben is looking very average these days, hopes he hangs them up soon.

NB: The Mitchell KD was a bit BS, typical southpaw-orthodox tangle.

Overall, Tackie is one tough dude. He always gives his best and comes to fight.

I agree his knockdown he suffered against Sharmba Mitchell was a bit of an off-balance thing. And his one-punch KO of Freddie Pendleton was a thing of beauty. Particularly since I thought Pendleton was a complete ass. Tackie had good power but suffered from very slow feet and had a penchant for fighting entirely flat footed. World-class boxers just toyed with him most of the time.
