View Full Version : Why Floyd may never fight again.
His ego.
He truly believes he is in the realm of DLH when it comes to PPV draws. There is no way in HELL he's getting the PPV numbers he got with DLH, not even half. Just cause people bought the fight to see DLH does not mean these people who saw you beat him will translate to PPV buying fans for you.
To put things in perspective
Floyds 3 PPV totals before DLH:
vs Baldomire 325,000
vs Zab 374,000
vs Gatti 365,000
Compare that to DLH one fight which generated 925,000 buy against a chump like Mayorga.
I don't care who he fights, he's not getting near a a million, he'll be lucky to get 500,000. Its all about the money which translate to ego which translate to no fight.
Very few people will question his boxing ability. What I'm sick about is hearing this who should he fight next. It should be who can give him the biggest payday and there just isn't right now.

so now its all about payday again. . . when Margarito offered the most money it was all about the linear title. . . :-(
the dude is a coward and a scumbag, he will NEVER be the draw he thinks he is. I think deep down he knows this, thats why he throws his panties at DLH every chance he gets.
If only the WIzard could grant this cowardly lion some courage.

Shit, since he and everyone else thinks that he is so good and that much better than everyone else. All he has to do, is do 3 PPVs in the next year and he will have his million PPV buys. The problem is that he is lazy and a pussy. Instead of going out and getting what he wants, he's just gonna beg Oscar for another welfare handout. He knows that some of the available tough fights, he will lose. Just another loud mouth chump !!!

He truly believes? Nah :-( the guy is in complete denial if he'll disregard all the facts. He can make a complete "ass rat" out of himself trying to HYPE his fights but he won't break or come close to De La Hota's record in PPVs. The hatred scheme he is trying to generate won't make him any more popular than he is today.

Dude I'm no where near a Floyd fan. I find his fight boreing. I pay to be etertain. It pisses me off when these idiots on here say you don't know boxing if you find Floyd boreing. What a load of shit. He's a prize fighter. We pay him to entertain us. The way he box is not the end all of boxing and is not the only way to box.
Now back on topic, Floyd is all about the money. Has been and will always be. Its not abou the best and its not about legacy. Its about money. Teh sooner people accepts that about him the quicke we can all forget about him.

2nd biggest? :rofl :rofl Lets wait and see his next fight before we say that. cause his numbers before DLH doesn't back up the number 2 PPV draw.

I fail to connect the dots in the OP.
I fiercely dislike PBF, but just because he can't generate the same amount of PPVs he is gonna stay retired?
Staying outside the ring will for sure not change this fact - nor do I think it means all that much, since he can draw alot of people; both haters and nuthuggers alike - and everything in between.

Because Floyd now demands huge purse. The only way to get these huge payday is with a huge PPV. His PPV numbers minus DLH says he won't make the big payday therefore he'd rather stay retired then be ridicule about his no draw and low pay.

He'll stay retired because he feels he deserves a lot more of money which is not proportionate to the PPV buys he can generate, that's all there is to this. :yep

He'll NEVER get the money he thinks he's worth, so he might as well stay at home counting his bills and talking like an ADD riddled child. I don't care if Floyd ever fights again. I'll watch some old footage if I want to see him box. Back when he was more entertaining as well.

It will kill his ego to see that his next PPV fight would not even do 1/3 of what Oscar/Floyd did. Then he cant claim that he's this HUGE draw. Let the fucking prick retire, he'll be forgotten about in a year!Agreed.

The only reason there was a big draw in the PBF-ODH fight was because of ODH. if PBF was fighting anybody else, it wouldnt be that big of a draw, especially after his performance in the Baldomir fight. After his performance in the ODH fight, I will be VERY surprised if his next fight would generate that huge PPV buys(Except if he is fighting Mosley or Cotto).

If Floyd doesn't fight again, it's probably because he values his health. Even if he doesn't draw that well, he's still gonna get paid a hella lot.

I think he may feel that he has done everything he has to do. He was chasing DLH for a long time and finally beat him and earned more money than most can imagine. It will be nearly impossible to match that. He's won belts in so many weight classes and fought nearly 40 fights. If he thinks he's fulfilled his ambitions then who could argue with that?
I can definitely see him fighting again. But maybe he is on the way out. With severe hand problems and what I already said then it wouldn't surprise me that much.

Well at the time, 8mil was his highest offer/payday to date, and Floyd didnt even consider it. I honestly dont doubt that he would turn down 16mil to fight him. Just imagine if Floyd lost or got KO'd! He would run out the ring in tears, and never return to boxing again after all that crap he talked.
Floyd is one fight away from being exposed I think this is why he is doing what he is doing ..In an interview at BT he said he will only come out of retirement only for a rematch with Oscar ..

Palese let look at the whole pic .. Arum knew from Floyd's days at 135 that he wanted Oscar , and Arum did everything in his power not to let that fight take place .. He first offers Floyd 6mill then says if he doesn't except the offers off the table , then kick floyd off his facility and then turns around a month later and offers him 8 mil once floyd and oscar starts there talks. :huh
Not only that Arum doesn't even hold Margarito in high regards the man he claims is the most feared he makes him play second fiddle to a guy who started his career at 140 and instruct Margarito NOT Cotto to drop his belt and face cotto:huh
Margarito was just merely a pawn to stop Floyd from fighting Oscar and not that Floyd has fought Oscar , Arum has hardly spoken a word about Margarito in fact there a rumor that he may be even entertaing a rematch with Zab or shane and not Margarito :huh
So much for the big bad wolf ..
Floyd is one fight away from being exposed I think this is why he is doing what he is doing ..In an interview at BT he said he will only come out of retirement only for a rematch with Oscar ..
jezz if he was going to be expose it would have happened early in his career , you guys and your buzz words . Exposed , nuthugger etc is word you guys use when you really don't have an answer .
But I will agree that floyd is no longer hungry not after making millions ,the old saying goes it a little hard to wake up at 4 am in the morning when your sleeping in silk pajamas and a king size bed and if that the case he should stay retired .

Floyd is the new Prine Hamed, it only a matter of time before he get what has been coming to him. And like Hamed, Floyd doesn't have the balls to fight again once he has losses.
...except that Hamed was exciting to watch, and he posessed tremendous knock out power in both hands.

Lance-
well like it or not- Floyd IS the biggest PPV draw in the world today. Surpassed DLH eons ago. He has successfully been passed the torch as the face of boxing from Tyson to DLH to Floyd.
