What's the deal with these two?

Chagaev- how is he progressing with his ACL rehab? Is he gonna be ready for Valuev before June? If not, he loses his mandatory postition.

Sultan- disappeared. I read he dumped Mayweather and he's going to go back to fighting with aggression.

I remember these two were being touted as potential dominant champs :-(

I want David Haye to fight Sultan to make his mark in the heavyweight division but Haye's supporters do not seem to like that idea for some reason.

This I'd be good ... and make sense. Basically Haye said he'd fight someone top 10 but hasn't as yet.

He attended yesterday's fight show in Austria where Stieglitz duked it out with his rival Wilaschek. He seemed to be ready to get out of his suit and put his gloves on.

Here's an excerpt from an interview with Leon Margules who promotes Sultan.

Is Sultan Ibragimov still on vacation?

LM: Yes, Sultan is getting married. He hasn't decided when he's going to fight again, or if he's going to fight again, I guess.

Chagaev will be back in the ring on February 7th, taking on Carl Davis Drumond (26-0) from Costa Rica. The two will be headlining a card that also features Kotelnik vs Maidana for the WBA Light Welterweight Title.

Carl who??? Anyway!

Chagaev deserves an easy fight before taking on Valuev in their rematch. At least Drumond is an undefeated fighter with a decent ko ratio.

jeez...do u realize by the time chagaev fights this guy, he would have fought ONE time in the last 22 months. mind blowing how anybody thinks this guy shouldn't be stripped. the guy just can't stay healthy.

Nice catch!

Too bad, Sultan started off great when he was aggressive. I think Mayweather hurt his career and no doubt stole his only chance possibly upset Wlad.

It's a shame about Chagaev inparticular. He fought really outstading against Valuev. Looked really promising at one point. It's going to be very difficult with inactivity at the best of time nevermind with severe illness and injury to contend with.

Ibragimov never excited me too much even before the stinker with Wladimir but he is still a good fighter. No idea why he just disapeared off the radar completely. I think he could teach guys like Arreola a lesson.

How about Chagaev vs. Ibragimov? Two southpaw heavyweights with some skill.

I think a well-prepared, Mayweather-trained Sultan would be too much for Haye. Either way, I'd love to see the fight. It is an exciting match-up.As for Sultan, I do not think he should dump Mayweather. Mayweather has made Sultan that much more effective. Arguably Mayweather saved Sultan from getting kayoed by Klitschko last year...I cannot picture an aggressive Sultan having survived against the power hitting Vlad.

I agree Chagaev has done a poor job as a champ, his inactivity is sick and most of his illness may very well be promoters overprotection crap.

Chagaev vs Ibragimov would be a nice fight. I think this should be the way for Ibragimov to go from now on, instead of hunting for a rematch with Wlad. With a couple of decent fights he may get mandatory rights from the WBA.

does anyone know if chagaev is blind in his left eye? he's not denying it saying his vision is still good enough to beat valuev. i read his conditioning is worsening...

i would like to see valuev-chagaev 2 be mandated as a retirement match where both retire no matter the result.

I think Ruslan needs to win his next fight by stoppage.

Sultan would still have a lot left if he continued boxing and I'd love to see him in with some of these younger guys. On the other hand a couple of million probably goes a long way in Dagestan.

This news about Ibragimov retired, I'm not so sure, I'd rather listen from him than from others before taking it for granted.

Anyway, I think he is walking away a bit too soon. He is at his prime and probably has at least a couple of good years in him. Could make some more millions with 3 or 4 more fights.

The guy only loss was an unification fight, no shame in there, he could go back to a title shot in a couple of fights and I like his chances against Chagaev/Valuev.

Toney, Haye, Maskaev, Peter, T. Tompson, Liakhovich, Arreola, are names that would make sense.

He'll be back. Its very few who are able to say "I have enough millions to keep me happy" when they are able to make many more millions off of a few weeks work.

ITs just tough to see him in the picture right now. Wlad already beat him, no one wants Vitaly, and he knows that Chag will not give him a shot (sorry, I like Chag, but the one month "inflammation" thing was bullshit).

Right.

IMO, Ibragimov should make his way up the WBA rankings and earn a mandatory right. That way neither Chagaev or Valuev will be able to avoid him. He could do it in a couple of fights.
