Haumono leaving Mundine camp good on you mate.......looks like haumono is heading to hoppa's camp but he might have a few problems, they'll concentrate on hoppa as their 1st priority haumono won't accept it, i think Team Fenech will be his choice!! what happens to johnny lewis?

Just before he retired last time he was payed a lump sum from Don King but never got on the plane.
I think he will find a few cold shoulders if he tries.
The guy has talent and has already headlined his own PPV, he should stay here and try and emulate Mundine only at Heavyweight and without Khoder trying to line his own pockets we might see some competitive fights.
Why ould he go to Fenech?
I think he will end up at Blacktown being trained by Lincoln Hudson and co promoting with Fidel:happy

I like Solo as a person, he seems very down to earth and humble, but does anyone here really think he can do anything on the world scene?
He is 33 years old and i mean he hasn't shown any great potential by any stretch of the imagination. Cliff Couser nearly had him out a few times. All he really has is a punch, i dont see him being able to make any noise whatsoever on the world scene.
Good on him for leaving Mundine is search of some better opposition, at least he is willing to step it up unlike Mundine, but i just dont think he can go past what he has already done.
I don't think sol or hoppa would have a chance fighting in usa.

daz52,
i think solo has shown enough potential to continue boxing and with more fights against decent opposition he may make some waves. he just needs more fights where the opposition will throw punches back at him.
but i think u r wrong about him being in trouble against couser. he may have recieved a couple of shots from him but solo was never in trouble.

I probably should have made myself a bit more clear. I agree he wasn't rocked too badly by Couser, but he was definitely gassed by soon after the mid way point. I watched it live and i remember Johnny begging Solo to finish it, and i also remember him telling Solo he was going to stop the fight.
Either way Couser did take Solos shots and throw back, and he made Solomon look pretty average in my opinion. Id pick Tua, Cameron and Briggs to beat Solo at this point. I dont mean to be bagging him dont get me wrong i wish him all the best, i'm just not sure what Solo has left and what he can pull out at age 33.

daz52,
if solo can absorb big punches and many of them then i think he may be competitive against most of the leapais and briggs etc.
whether he beats them we'll just have to wait and see. but i still think he is a hard nut to crack and with boxing in his blood you would think he would show a lot of heart when under attack.
he is obviously going to get beat sooner or later but i think it will be good for aussie boxing if he keeps winning for a little while yet.
also if kali meehan get pull off an upset and win his title fight i think you will see these local heavyweights training just that little bit harder in the gym.
i guess its just the underdog thing of you never know far any of these fighters will go. just look at michael katsidis he has gone a long way in 4 fights.

Why cant they fight in the U.S??
I think you mean they wont become world champs etc...
I think every1 knows Hoppa aint a world beater but what he obviously has is a desire to test himself.
I have a new found respect for the guy.

At the end of the day it is a pretty exciting time in the Aussie Heavy Scene.
I can't remember a time when the top 12 guys are active fighters and with Solo changing management there are so many match ups to be made.
I hate the tall poppy syndrome that this country is renowned for (must be the convict heritage)
Let's get behind our boxers and give them 100% support.
Solo has the next 12 months to step it up or i'm not interested in what he does after that.
IMO he needs no less than 4 fights in 2009

Though the difference is he hasnt somehow been handed world titles twice..
And Sol doesnt get on the T.V etc claiming to be the best..

And Sol doesnt get on the T.V etc claiming to be the best..True. But his choice in opposition has been very poor. I know it's harder for him to find top level opposition than it is for Mundine, but if Hopoate's name can get mentioned in a title shot (even if it is only the WBF or whatever) then theres no reason why Haumono cant do the same seeing how he's much more talented and been in the game for longer.

Spot on Pecks. Haumono has more speed and ability than Hoppa but has been woefully handled.I agree with the poster who said he needs at least 4 fights in 2009, gradually stepping it up. I think most people have a lot of respect for Hoppas attitude and willingness to test himself. If Solo had the same who knows what he might do.

Funny (or sad, depending on how you look at it) that there's still people out there that believe the crap rolled out by "The Daily Bellylaugh".
Choc and Sol have been and will be mates for life but their boxing careers are about to take different paths and Choc won't be able to dictate who is on his undercard when he fights overseas.
Simple as that.
