All the rage at the moment is Pacman v Hatton or FMJ. Those are mega-fights i want to see as well as Cotto v Tony M 2. But that's only a couple on my long list....

What about the rest of you?

I think saying Pacman v Hatton keeps boxing alive is a bit of an exaggeration but it will definately keep the fans happy!

Real Boxing fans:

Vasquez - Marquez IV
Dawson - Calzaghe
Pac - Marquez III
Montiel - Donaire
Vasquez - Juan Manuel Lopez
Cotto - Margarito II
Margarito - Williams II
Montiel - Darchinyian
Haye - Vlad

Joe Public:

Hatton - Pac
PBF - Pac
Vitali - Lennox
DLH - Anyone

We, the life blood of the sport, keep boxing alive. Anything else is just inflated sales (ie: helped along by Joe Public). I think that Pac - Hatton would be a great fight, but as a purist I would rather see Pac - Marquez III.

I'm sick of this bullshit. Boxing is not a dieing sport.

Why do we need the recognition of the mainstream masses? These are uneducated football idiots.

We are enjoying the fights. Do we care about the viewing figures...really? Or how much money people are making?

Let's just enjoy boxing.

Depends on what you mean by keep boxing alive. In my opinion, and I'm not trying to sound like some smug elitist arsehole, a lot of the best fights in boxing go under the radar. Real boxing fans know there is loads of quality out there

Joe Public love Hatton v Whoever. Big Name They Have Heard Of Vaguely v Some Lad Sky Will Hype The Shit Out Of.

How many people outside of boxing fanatics know about the Marquez - Vasquez trilogy??? Other compelling contests go completely unnoticed too. Fuck sake Katsidis -v- Casamayor was better viewing than a lot of the 'superfights' we have seen lately. Pac - JMM II was a bigger fight for me than Pac - DLH but who did you hear talking about that down the pub??

Anyway, 3 title fights I'd love to see in 2009

Vasquez - Juanma
Donaire - Darchyinian II
Holt - Torres III (mainly because Torres deserves his belt back)

I think boxing has been fantastic over the last two years. Yes it's no where near as popular as it was 10-15 years ago, but for real boxing fans it's been fantastic.
Fuck all the fans who just watch Hatton fights, as long as there's real boxing around there'll always be people to watch it.

I agree that a lot of the superfights Hatton v FMJ, Pac v DLH have been shit but it does keep the sport in the limelight.

Vazquez v marquez was sensational especially the onslaught by Vazq in rnd 12 of fight 3 - a boxing fanatic! katsidis v casa was a ******* and I'd rather have seen Pac v JMM 3 because JMM can beat this guy officially once and for all.

i agree that boxing is not dieing. but i do not agree with your views on boxing mainstream popularity

The sport needs mainstream star to attract new interest and talent to the sport

As long as two men are prepred to knock the crap out of each other in the back room of a pub under the Marquis of Queensbury rules (even London Ring Rules if you like that type of thing) then the sport will survive...its health isn't in anyway related to the number/standard of big money fights that happen. The life blood is, and always has been at grass roots.
