I'd be inclined to nudge Humerto Gonzalez in there, if only because he beat Michael Carbajal twice.

de la hoya is the greatest mexican fighter.
if we're going by ethnicity, then this is correct.
Nationality wise, its Chavez. Sanchez died too young to face enough fighters to be the greatest ever
Sanchez died too young to face enough fighters to be the greatest ever
Well, for the purposes of this thread (5 greatest, not the single greatest), Sanchez certainly qualifies.
In some cases age and number of years active are irrelevant. Sanchez had more than 40 fights, more than 30 KO's, one loss, and beat the best of the day, including the great Little Red Lopez twice and dissected Wilfredo Gomez, one of the best if not the best super bantamweights ever, something I'd considered impossible. Gomez was so good I just couldn't imagine anyone beating him that easily, but Sanchez did.
With some fighters more bouts would just give them more opportunities to prove what they'd already made obvious.

:good :yep
I don't know about greatest but my favorites are...
Michael Carbajal...
Whoa, hang on, I'm not letting go of Carbajal that easily. He's an American, from Phoenix if I'm recalling correctly. Mexico can have their Top Whatever but you gotta give us Carbajal for our Top List. :hi:
Kinda like Joe Calzaghe... we can't have both Wales and Italy claiming him. Gotta be one or the other.

You have to find room for Daniel Zaragoza somewhere in the top 10. 22 world title bouts, hall of famer.
A true warrior who never really gained the popularity in Mexico that he should have because he fought on the road so much.
