Just some random questions id like some answers to:

(a) If Geale and Mundine do fight next year, will it be for the IBO belt Daniel holds? What i mean is will Anthony be eligible for a shot in their rankings. He would have only had 1 MW fight by this time against Taylor, does that put him in line according to the IBO?

(b) Anybody heard or know anything about boxing on Ch 10? They are meant to be brining out a new channel next year showing all sports 24/7. any boxing on that?

(c) Anybody know if any of these fights are on Main Event next year?

Berto Vs Collazo
Margarito Vs Mosley
Katsidis Vs Ramirez
Pavlik Vs Rubio
Cotto Vs Jennings

(d) Any info on upcoming fights invloving Ndou/Bika/Soliman?

Did he contract to them after the Casa fight because that one was on Main Event?

Answer to A - Yes it would be and yes he would be. When A fighter moves division he loses 25% of the points he has accrued, considering Choc's high ranking at 168, he would still be way up there at '60. He could even fight him tomorrow for it as he would have enough points if he won to end up well within the Top-35. The IBO won't officially rank him at middle until he makes the weight in that division

Margarito vs Mosley will be on Main Event definitely.

Berto v Collazo & Katsidis v Ramirez wont be shown on Main Event.

Main Event could very well pick up Top Rank's feed of the split site location PPV involving Cotto, Pavlik & a defense of Juanma Lopez's title.
Main Event better show it.:fire:fire

So the IBO is going to rank him after the Shannan Taylor fight in February?

Word on the street is HBO have not approved Rubio or Jennings as opponents for Pavlik and Cotto, so stand by on that one.

Glad that Margarito v Mosley will be on here, but again, it's not even a PPV in the States...

Its not a HBO PPV, so why would they have to approve Pavlik & Cotto's opponents.:nut
Its a independant Top Rank PPV & always has been.

Mate this is the mail...

Apparently with the economy the way it is...they are looking for quality fights in 09 and have sent promoters scrambling.

They won't approve Rubio for Pavlik..
They won't approve Jennings for Cotto..
They allegedly rejected Taylor vs Froch (telling Taylor it either Wright or Kessler)
They allegedly told Kessler people it either Dawson or Taylor if he wants back on HBO
They (along with Showtime) rejected Edison Miranda and Allan Green for Andre Ward.
They allegedly informed Winky if he want to keep his 3/14 date....it either Kessler, Abraham, Taylor or Williams...Wright wanted a tune-up first.

HBO is not paying for any more mis-matches.

Rejecting Taylor for Froch is flat out crap. I wonder if they change their minds after Fox (in the US) shows Froch v Pascal. I'd also have no worries with Miranda or Green for Ward. That being said they've also committed to Dawson v Tarver II...

I knew what you meant mate. HBO have caused boxing a fair bit of damage over the years, paying massive coin for basically rubbish fights. Good to see they might have finally woken themselves up...

Cotto & Pavlik's matches are 100% finalized & are NOT being televised by HBO because they wouldnt approve of those opponents.
So Top Rank are running their own independant PPV in February as a result.

Top Rank always run their own independant PPV's think Chavez-Vanda, Pacquiao-Solis, Margarito-Manuel Gomez, Cotto-Malignaggi etc.

Arum took the fights to HBO and they didn't get approved. Can't see them doing very good numbers, they wouldn't if they were on normal HBO, let alone PPV. I don't think I'd go out of my way to catch the fights to be honest.

Couldn't agree more. When you consider Adamek v Cunningham was free, you need to weigh up the value of these types of cards. Don't get me wrong, if Main Event do show it, I'll get along to the pub and watch it if I'm not busy doing something else. No way would I buy it or go well out of my way to watch it. The card will likely bomb stateside...

Even though my stance on ALL boxing organisations is a "fuck them hope they die", at least the IBO is waiting for Choc to tip the scales at 160 or less before giving him a spot unlike some other organisations.....

Reason being that neither Taylor or Froch are that marketable at this point.

Same with Allan Green/Edison Miranda and Ward, who at this point really aren't main event PPV fighters. However that said, you think they could definitely make it onto the undercard,.

I would definitely buy Pav, Cotto and juanma card, would be some great knockouts, and an excellent way to get some friends into the sport.

Kessler v Taylor is a better option than Taylor v Froch anyway.

I'd like to see Froch fight another decent opponent in England before getting a Taylor/Kessler/Dawson type of opponent. Just not sure he is up to the top 2 or 3 guys at SMW at this stage, plus he's not a big enough name to headline a big American PPV

Maybe a Froch v Bika on a Ricky Hatton undercard at Wembley :yep

Yeah but unlike over here, it wouldn't be a PPV card. Those guys are easily good enough to headline a regular HBO card.

To date we have the following in our schedule for 2009:

Margarito v Mosley (Jan 25)
Darchinyan v Arce (Feb 8 )
Mundine v Taylor (Feb 11)

We already have a UFC commitment on February 22, so are unable to show any Boxing on that day!

We haven’t been offered the Marquez v Diaz event as yet, but would imagine we will be.

This is the response i received from Main Event in regards to Fox Sports showing the smaller HBO & Showtime televised cards.

With regard to FOX Sports we can’t speak on their behalf, they are a separate company and we aren’t privy to their business decisions.

Feel like emailing FOX Sports and asking lol? If Canvas Classics can show the odd fight like Judah VS Clottey and Witter Vs Bradley, why cant FOX Sports do it? (Show it live or same day i mean)

I've said it a million times on here, but Fox Sports coverage of boxing is atrocious. It was much better when they had competition with OptusVision. I wonder how many remember that events such as Tyson v Holyfield I were shown on delay for FREE on Fox Sports the evening of the event... Fights such as Holyfield v Mercer, Lewis v Mercer, Moorer v Schulz were all free on Fox Sports. If Mainevent were to flick Pavlik v Rubio etc due to UFC coverage, it'd be the perfect opportunity for Fox Sports to do the right thing by fight fans. I won't hold my breath.

Well i emailed FOX Sports tonight, so we shall see wat eventuates from it.
If nothing does i will be making a few phone calls come the 1st week of January.
In the email i just stated most of our feelings & expressed we would all love the smaller Showtime & HBO cards shown on FOX Sports to help increase Boxing interest as well as the amount of people ordering Main Event PPV's would surely rise as well.:deal

Good luck getting a response from the pricks, I'm still waiting for a reply to an email I sent to them last year.

I had dealings with a few of the channels and most are like that, the stand out exception in my experience at least has been Sky Channel.

With the others its like its a bother to them to have people interested or watching their product.

I do the tv guide thread here and you'd think they wouldn't be adverse to a bit of extra publicity. Mat Brooks from Sky has been amazingly helpful and Main Event have helped a bit but I've never had a response from FoxSports or ESPN.

No skin of my nose, those that help me I return the favour. Until then, the half assed dvd swap club I've mentioned in the tv guide thread is beginning to get legs, if we cant see stuff here for free I'm more than willing to share it out.
