Tell me who's up and coming please.
There are a lot of journeymen who are the owner of a piece of paper called Romanian passport, and some Canadien based fighters like Bute or Diaconu, but no promising new talents comes to my mind.
Italian based heavy Onofrei, toughman Telecan, dangerous puncher Lakatus, retired Dorin-none of these guys are either young or promising anymore.

There was Leonard Dorin Doroftei...of Gatti fame. He was the reason we have Bute and Diaconu.
[Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links])
There is Lucian Bute and Adrian Diaconu; also Ionut Dan Ion, all at Intebox, Montreal, Canada.
[Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links])
The fighters of tomorrow/ current amateurs, most even without Olympic experience...
Ionut Gheorghe - Light welterwight - bronze at Athens Olympics
Florentin Niculescu - beat Yordenis Ugaz Hernandez (Cuba) in May
Constantin Bejenaru - (81kgs) beat Yusiel Napoles Marcillan (Cuba) in May
Cristian Ciocan (his surname means "Hammer") (HW)
Razvan Cojanu (HW)
Bogdan Dinu (HW)
Female:
Diana Ungureanu (ROM) :D
Does the future look bright? Yes...somewhat, at HW...but at the moment, it's a bit of a Golden Era, with Bute and Diaconu...so let's enjoy it while it lasts...

Being a fan of Bernard Dunne I am quite interested in the Super Bantamweight scene in Europe and thus stumbled upon the boxrec of this Romanian boxer in the past [Only registered and activated users can see links]
Eugen Sorin Tanasie(13-0-1 , 6 ko's) no idea whether he's any good or not but he's there .
The Canadian based Romanians are obviously the real names of Romanian boxing .

What about brothers Roth ?
A couple of years ago Romania had some really rough and capable amateur fighters who would have made an impact at the pros ,too,if they had turned pro at that time.
One of my favourite Romanian amateur boxers was Marian Simeon.
A pity that this hard punching roughous didnt turn pro a few years ago.
Present Romanian pro fighters like Diaconu cant hold a candle to a prime Simeon.

Lucian Bute would dearly love to fight both the winner and the loser. If Calzaghe wins, it might be harder to arrange a fight with him. But he should definitely face Kessler, even if the latter wins. Unless Kessler dodges Bute, which he cannot do without losing face, Kessler v. Bute will happen, whatever the outcome of Calzaghe v. Kessler.
The fight against Bika showed that he's not ready yet for the big2.
After Berrio he needs at least two more fights, at least one against a top opponent like Froch.
Be patient, Kessler can't escape, no need to hurry.

ya bute and diaconu have been getting more publicity lately after being shown on USA's ESPN2 fight nights. They are growing very popular and both of their next fights will also be on US TV. I hope Diaconu can pull of a win againdt chad dawson and his weak chin haha i am not worryed about bute taking berrio.

"Light heavyweight Chad Dawson's second title defense against mandatory challenger Adrian Diaconu of Canada will take place Sept. 29 (Showtime) at the Arco Arena in Sacramento, Calif., but it will be promoted by Don King, not Dawson's promoter, Gary Shaw. The reason: King won a purse bid with an offer of $1.385 million. Shaw was second ($1.3 million), Gankor Promotions third ($1.1 million) and Diaconu promoter InterBox fourth ($454,000). Showtime is considering adding a second fight to the card, which takes place on the network's free preview weekend. Bantamweight titlist Luis Perez is being considered. Junior middleweight titlist Cory Spinks was also in the running, but he is getting married and won't be available for that date, manager Kevin Cunningham told ESPN.com. "

salut robert ungureanu,
hmmm...nothing should stop these great amateurs from impressing objective and intelligent promoters like InterBox...if they are good enough;)

What about brothers Roth ?
They were born in RO but they are German. Dieter just got his first loss in a slight step-up match, and Egon (who I was actually quite interested in) has retired as far as I know, due to injuries.

Doesenth mather if they have german citizeniship. They are Romanian and all people nows that.
Im sorry that Egon left boxing, he was very good talent.....
They are ethnic Germans. For centuries there was a sizable German minority in Romania (as in many other Eastern European countries) called the Transylvanian Saxons but most of them, like the Roths, immigrated back to Germany in recent years.

Exactly, so therefore they are Germans, not Romanians. Dieter is about as much a German name as you can get. Anyway....let's move on.

Simeon?? Sorry, I have no idea what has happened to him since I saw one of his fights at the olympics!!!
He would have been a great pro IMO.

Any updates on Dorin?Dorin is retired man.I mean have you seen him recently?
He is about 175-180 lbs and altough hints at a comeback pretty often from the years passed since the Gatti fight he ain't gonna comeback. He doesn't have the heart in it anymore.

No news on prospects that I know of, HW Bogdan Dinu should be fighting more often than he is (every 4 months), I don't know when he's getting back in action.
Diaconu fought last weekend, a UD over a guy with a 10-7-1 record in a non-title fight. He's been inactive for a year which isn't good, with injuries and waiting for Chad Dawson who ultimately ducked him, then screwing around with a Silvio Branco fight that fell apart due to injuries.
Also he's apparently a free agent now, which is limiting him as far as getting fights put together.

Diaconu signed with Interbox for 2 years so he should be fine.He is defending his title in june against Jean Pascal, very good match-up this one.
About up and comers not much to report, the only guy who should be mentioned is featherweight Viorel Simion but he doesn't have a promoter so he fights way to little.
Also HW Cristian Ciocan has signed with german promoters and has turned pro,he goes by Christian Hammer(kindad fitting) and has lost his first pro fight due to injury. He has a bout set soon.He should get back on track, much better fighter than Dinu IMO.

I also think that the Romanian Hammer Ciocan will make some noise at the pros.He is far more promising than Dinu.Thats for sure.Anyway! Both guys are quite young, and both have to learn one or two things before taking on a decent journeyman at the pros.
Two young Romanian heavy weight fighters!!! Not bad,eh!

So far they both haven't showed nothing.
Ciocan has a better chance than Dinu cuz he has a strong promotor but if he screws up again I'm sure they will give up on him.
Dinu wants to fight bums but they who handle him won't let him get near them.Only no hopers with glass jaws.
