Does Anyone Know The Gastineau/Tim Anderson Story?

Mark Gastineau was a giant 90's heavyweight. Former football player, 6'6, white... He was trying to get to 12-0 to get a multi-millionaire match-up with Foreman.

I watched a 60 minutes piece on the underside of boxing from a few years ago and they had footage of some of Gastineau's opponents. In his first fight he took on a 0-0-0 ex-pro wrestler who threw the fight. The wrestler admitted this (As did other opponents) and beyond that the footage shows one of the most obvious fight fixes of all time.

Anyhow, Mark eventually ran into a fighter called Tim Anderson. A obscure trial horse if anything, but he was a actual fighter instead of someone willing to take a dive. He beat the living shit out of Gastineau.

Now fast forward to a rematch being made, damage control by Gastineau's people. Anderson claims to of been poisoned.

Three years later Tim Anderson would shoot the promoter of Gastineau and that fight to death in a hotel room. On top of the alledged poisoning, Anderson was supposedly threatened alongside his quadrapeglic sister.

Has anyone ever heard of all this, and or seen the 60 Minutes piece I'm talking about? Was the poisoning bit even verified to any degree?

Fascinating topic Russell. If Tim's claims are mostly true i have no sympathy for Parker.

He was actually Tim's promoter/manager too.

Elvis Parker was a crooked son of a bitch..... He had Tim "Doc" Anderson going into the tank on several occasions...... He was a shyster and a user of people..... Elvis Parker was just promoting scandalous fights to earn a quick buck or two.... Nothing that Elvis Parker was doin' was ever strictly on the level.... Tim Anderson finally got pissed off and shot Elvis Parker FIVE or SIX times at point blank range..... I think Anderson is doin' life, but he should get paroled in my book.... Ol' Parker was a piece of shit.....

I read an article on this story in The Ring magazine almost 13 years ago.

I mostly remember it being a very sad story and that elvis guy was a real piece of garbage.
