Sibson could never pull this one off. He'd get severely batted; Monzon wouldn't look as sharp as Hagler did, but he'd dish out a more prolonged, painful beating.

Monzon TKO12: Carlos the artist takes his time in a boxing masterclass.

The people wouldnt get their money's worth from this one, as Monzon coldy tortures Sibson for 6 painful rounds then drops him in the 7th for a tko.

Sibbo would pull it off. This isn't a mindless windup robot like Briscoe. He's an expert brawler with weapons without limit. He'd would roll under the powerless jab of Monzon and suffocate him, ripping hooks to the ribs until he collapses in a paroxism of fear and pain.
Let's get this straight; Sibbo was cleaning house with Don lee until the 6'2" powerhouse switched stances on him. Monzon can't fight as a southpaw and Sibbo is good enough defensively to ward off or slip those slow mo punches with ease.
Guys like Sibbo and Roy Jones would have had a field day in Monzon's era.

Sibson was absolutely schooled by Kevin Finnegan, Monzon would outbox him just as easily. Indeed, Sibbo would be slowly dismantled by Carlos in his usual aloof manner, setting up a mid-rounds stoppage.

In fairness to Tony, he wasn't quite experienced enough when he fought Finnegan. But he hasn't much chance against Monzon regardless.

Why not, because you say so? That's no reason.
You get all your information from reports on fights you never even saw yourself. Then to make it worse, you spout off about it like we should all take it as Gospel.
Show the footage or else STFU!!
No one gives a fxxx about what you think or that dumbfxxx on the drums

Red is a delusional motherfucker.
Carlos pounds the shit out of Sibson.
Not with hands as slow as molasses

Okay he didn't have the fastest hands but that didn't stop him from dishing out brutal, painful beatdowns, now did it?
you're the same asshole who picked Mugabi to KO Leonard. You're full of shit!
Look who he was beating tho. Briscoe, Griffith -each with at least ten losses and those were his big wins. Vito in his second year whipped griffith the year following Emile's title loss and Vito gets no respect on any of the forums. I say Vito's win is more impressive becaue he did it so early in his career.
What was Monzon's biggest win? Probably Valdez. But Valdez couldn't beat Corro either. never could. Only Vito could pull it off. it's just that he doesn't get the respect Monzon gets

Antuofermo got battered by Hope that's why. I'm amazed he beat Corro too, who had an injured hand and obviously thought he'd beat, the man who was to become the worst middleweight champ ever, with ease and probably trained by smoking all of Monzon's tabs.

How can someone be amazed over an outcome from a fight that this person never saw but only read about?

My favourite bit was
He's an expert brawler with weapons without limit.
I always ask Red what the great Sibbo's (Or Roldan for that matter) finest 2 or 3 wins are and he goes all coy

I've seen the fight. I'll pm you the site that has it if you want. I thought Corro did enough myself, but it indeed could have gone either way. A total off night against a vastly inferior opponent for the Argie.

I went to bed. You should try it occasionally, instead of throwing darts at your Ray Leonard posters all night. Your accuracy is quite astonishing I've heard- you manage to hit his bad eye with every other throw. :good

i was a sibbo fan but i just can't see him winning this one.sibbo was a big underachiever should have done much better.didn't always train well and didn't believe in sparring a lot for fights.however when he was fired up and well prepared he was a right handful with a devastating left hook, ask minter who he sparked in minters last fight, that was no mean achievment.the much touted john collins was demolished in a couple of rounds on his home patch in chicago when they just saw sibbo as a stepping stone after his loss to hagler.he also blasted out the tough frankie lucas on his way up.i just think monzon's all round basic discipline and toughness would be too much for sibbo.monzon by ko inside 10 rounds.

Sibson would be seriously out of his depth in this one,Isaw many of his fights at ringside ,he had serious power in his left hook and good hand speed but Hagler schooled him and Monzon would do the same to win by late stoppage ,around the 10th.

It's hard to see how Sibson could be favored over Monzon. The two did not fight in far-apart eras so one would think Monzon's vastly greater consistency would make him an obvious choice to dispatch Sibson. What would Sibson offer that Monzon could not counter?
