hahah well i guess im gunna make a log. im coming off my nose surgery and havent lifted weights in over 2 months because of it. also my knees recently started hurting me alot msot liekly from all my other sports i used to play so my squat is defintly going to suffer. ok well most liekly my lifts are at about bench 205 squat 250 and deadlift 325
each round is 3 min with 1 min rest
today shadow boxed 5 rounds
heavybag 4 rounds
then i did speed bag for 3 rounds and inbetween the rounds i did flat situps

hahha thanks. if u wudnt mind cud u keep an eye on my log cuz i have my first boxing match in february or march its in the golden gloves so im going hard with training now.
BTW
i also did 2 hours of jiu jitsu today

anyway i warmed up for liek 1.5 hours lol shadow boxing, heavybag, and pads. waiting for the kid to show up lol. and then i sparred 3 rounds

althugth i hae been doing BJJ for over ayear now it just takes soo damn long to upgrade in jiu jitsu most guys take 2 yrs to get a blue belt in my gym lol

No need to lie man you got nothing to prove to us just be yourself. Nothing wrong with a year and no Blue most guys at my gym dont get it unless there extremly good although there is one who got his in 6 months and its a huge head stratcher IMO. Ive been training since the end of May id just shooting to get it before the end of 09 almost a year and half since I started but even then I think its a stretch. Once my unemployement money comes in ill buy a Gi and go to 2 Gi classes a week to add on what I already do.

i used to do running i got up to being able to do about 3 miles but now im starting to do tabata sprints. my cardio is my biggest problem by far that and my speed. my punching power is pretty good and i have a good chin. but im slow and get tired easy.

That's why I asked. The defense and the rest of your skills will come with practice but you won't be able to hold all of it together and use those skills if you're getting tired. Sprints are good, but they aren't enough. They help with explosive movement but you also need a good base fitness. Try to work a couple of three milers back into your week and see if that helps.

ok thanks. amy BTW this is my routine i TRY to stick with but its hard so i end up sometimes skipping a workout or two =(
boxing mon tues thurs fri and sunday
jiu jitsu tues weds and friday
then i lift 2-3x a week just some basic lifts like bench, OH press, squat, chinups, rows, and SLDLs. i do it since strenght is my biggest advantage over my opponents.
and ya u r rigt my cardio is abosultely terrible. im going to add in 2 3 milers a week and mayby add in a 3rd once i get decent at it. BTW is it better to jog 2 miles and work up to 3 or do 3 but some of it will be walking? thanks

Just do what you can until you are in shape enough to jog at a good pace for 25-30 minutes. If you have to walk some, that's fine.

im a little sick right now and i got beat in sparring today pretty bd actually by a kid who i shud be beating. its weird because jiu jitsu im clearly geting better but boxing is weird. like 2 months ago i beat the kid i saprred today pretty bad. then i started sparring guys better then him and i ended up sparring some one much better and doing pretty decnt and toda yi sparred the kid again and he beat me which was weird since he barely got better since last time i fought him

well i finally got the point were i can do 3 miles so im incorporating sprints. nd now i no y my cardio is soo bad my sprint cardio sucks lol. well i sprint from one telephone pole to teh next. then i walka cross the street and repeat. so i did 6. rested about 30 min then did some core work.

roman chair situps head almost touching ground 20
roman chair situps stopping at parralel 22
roman chiar situps going from parallel to about a quarter of the way up 16 immediatly followed by a 7 second hold at parralel
v-ups 11
hold 35lb plate at chest level with elbows tucked into sides twists 40
same thing but holding weight horizontal insteadof parralel 60
same thing but weight is helld out a little further 32
same thing but weight is held straight out 18
back extensions 25

Your "sprint" cardio is really your anaerobic system. It provides energy for up to 2 minutes without the need for oxygen to produce it. However you still get out of breath because your aerobic system is working no matter what and trying to make more energy for you to use. Keep up with the sprints but another thing you could try that you can also do inside are minute drills. Just do 30 seconds per exercise (preferablly ones that can get you out of breath like jumping jacks, burpees, lateral jumps, etc) one after another as fast and hard as you can for a round, rest, repeat. Try shadowboxing (hard) for 30 seconds, burpees for 30 seconds, keep repeating for a full round, rest and do 4-5 of them. Keep up the training man!

2years for a blue belt is a good thing IMO. It really makes it an accomplishment. It seems now that a lot of gyms are just handing them out like candy on Halloween.

I've been doing BJJ for a little over 4months now and its lots of fun. You're lucky you got wrestling background I find take downs the hardest thing to pull off.
