Can you give an example???? Any other commentators out there with similar experiances???? (career battles, longevity and credited wins???) Love him, or hate him, the guy is the most under rated LW/jLW in the history of our sport.

Not sure how he may have embarassed himself in front of the mic. either...

...and I'm sure he still spells his own name correctly.

Barry Michael Sweetenham

His constant love for Mundine is a bit of a worry. Mundine is a good boxer but he is no were near as good as Barry talks him up to be.
So in that way he does embaress himself.

I see.... fair enough. Mate, he is paid to commentate these cards.... clearly by the Mundine advertisers. Barry is a money maker, and will say the appropriate things to ensure his next pay day. Regardless, he is never silly enough to be too foolish for the sake of a dollar. He has faith in the Man.. and when the curtain seems to be falling, it will not land on Barry. He will be out of the building, safe at home, and negotiating the next venture.

Barry is a joke of a commentator, the faster he disappears the better.
If he wants to stay on he needs to stop with his huge bias of Mundine...its beyond pathetic.

I actually would rather listen to punch drunk Jeff Fenech, then stupid Barry Michael & that says something.
Barry is friggin embarrasing.

I think he is going well and he has the past in the sport to keep the job.....he knows what side his bread is buttered on.....and to keep the bread coming in he will continue to nut hug Mundine.

Barry Michael Sweetenham Why do you think he is under rated ? He beat a Lester Ellis that had been destroyed in his two previous victories (two of the toughest fights any teenager has ever been thrown into) Then a couple of very unworthy opponents. THE first decent fighter he meets destroys him. How is he under rated?

I met Barry a couple of times and he seems a good bloke, i think his efforts behind the MIC are at times a touch biased..... but Hey! what commentator isn't these days?

He pushes the Mundine barrow a lot and i too like Barry was doing the same thing for a while, but now i've sort of jumped off. In Barry's defence he's still on the payroll so i guess it's hard for him in a way.

Yeah Paul and Hussy are my favourite colour commentators....Raymond is pretty good in there as the lead commentator. He actually cares enough to know a lot about Aussie boxing.

Briggs & Hussy are both great expert commentators & always provide a great insight.
Personally i wouldnt mind those 2 & Andy Raymond doing all the FOX cards.
Paul Upham is ok too & is very passionate.:deal

Briggs and Hussy are good, I like Brad Vocales and Andy Raymond commentory as well. Match any 2 of that 4 and it will be a good mix.

Micheal is to far up Mundines ass to call the fights properly.

Mate, you're entitled to your opinion like everybody else. But if you're gonna bag a bloke on his career when he who won Australian, Commonwealth & World titles and fought the best there was around at the time...well you're hard to please!

I was at the Ellis vs Michael fight and was hoping like mad that Lester would win, but he didn't. He shouldn't have given Barry a sniff at that title! Stupid! But he did, and Michael outpointed him.

As far as a commentator, and his over-rating of Mundine...well that's a separate matter.

I don't really hate his commentary. He often goes alright.
He just irks me when he commentates on mundine fights. He always seems to mention how when he first saw Mundine training in a gym, he said to someone "He will be world champion some day", and his moans and groans when Mundine lands are sickening to take in.

It's like when Phil Gould commentates when the Roosters are playing. Repulsive.

No chance.
Souths are fairly financially stable, and more so than St.George actually.
The media went overkill on the video message by Crowe. All he basically said was that the club has to learn to stand on its own sometime.

Souths will be around forever.

:bbb:bbbHas Vic even been to a game of footy before?

Was funny last year when I went to the Roosters home game against Souths. Before the match the ground announces introduces 'LesHill' to the crowd and he comes out and they're all treating him like he's god.
Meanwhile Crowe and Pamela Anderson are sitting in the corporate box with Souths gear on.

The first question Vic asked after his 2nd last fight was "how'd the tigers go?".

But i do take your point, probably not the true'st of fans, but he'd still knock your bloke out:good

Crowe has won a heavyweight world title and won a nobel prize in just the last 5 years.

I like Barry as a comentator. Biased as he is towards Mundine, but if that is his worst flaw i don't mind. He was good on the old SEN boxing hour. His insight was always welcome. Anyone who helps, and not hinders the sport, is good if you ask me. And he definately helps.
