cleverly UD For me
Agreed. Woods looked in an awful state.
Would be a good fight for Clev...maybe not for Woods.

Has to be Cleverly. Surprised to see Woods bothering to carry on after the Tarver debacle.

Woods needs to turn it now.

Im hoping Cleverely wins, with all due respect to Woods he must be the most average world champion ive ever seen along with Scott Harrison, i usually get fully behind our champions but I never want to see Woods fight again

Even an average Woods performance against Cleverly at the early stages of his career would mean a fairly routine win for the Sheffield man. Cleverly looks good throwing flash combos against journeyman opposition, or out of shape and out of sorts Oakey but he hasn't fought anyone anywhere close to Woods standard.
What is Woods standard?
His standard was walking around the ring throwing nothing in the last fight.

So one fight maketh the man? You know better than that. Taking your statement at face value you would then have to say that Cleverly is a complete wrecking machine given the way that he disposed of his opposition last time out :-(
One fight when you are mid 30's and you actually do not throw any punches makes you seriously questionable. He looked like a shot fighter that can't pull the trigger anymore. And I'm usually adverse to using that term, but Woods was showing too many of the signs. Let's hope he's not.

Let's see Cleverley at domestic level before we judge both of them.

But he's above domestic level now, he's fighting for the Commonwealth strap :hey

Please....................
The Commonwealth is little better than an area title now. Merely a vehicle for a promoter to have two decent fighters at the same weight without having to match them against each other.
I wouldn't wipe my ass with it personally. The Commonwealth don't exist anymore....... pity.

Right now I'd go with Woods but not with a massive amount of confidence.
Even though Woods looked horrible against Tarver, it's said that he wasn't well for that fight. I know plenty of boxers do make excuses, but with Woods there's probably some truth in it. He was looking to be in good form, coming off two impressive wins and then he had nothing. Aside from that, Woods is such an honest fighter, I can't imagine him lying to cover the loss.
We'll know whether it was true, after his next fight. If he beats Muriqi like he's capable of doing, then there was probably some truth in it. If not, then he's finished as an elite fighter.

Woods would easily handle Cleverley, he had an off-night against Tarver but beat solid competition in Gonzalez, Hoye, Johnson etc.I can see Woods walking down Cleverleys combinations and punishing him with hard shots. For someone who won a battle of attrition with Glen Johnson, Cleverley is bread and butter. However lets see how both look in their next fights, Woods is getting on a bit which is the only problem.
Im gonna give Woods the benefit of the doubt and say he was ill. I thik if woods is still capable hed be too experienced for Cleverley and look for a stoppage late.
Clev beats a shot Clinton though.

Woods wasnt ill against Tarver.
They (his team) even had him checked out afterwards.
Basically he just went to sleep at he first bell.

Woods was a light heavy version of Hatton but not protected. Cleverly is an ok domestic prospect but nothing special.

i think woods takes clev to school at the minute....
clev is a prospect for sure, but largely untested and not a puncher either, clinton would beat him inside for me..

woods is a terrific ffighter calling him a weak belt holder is inappropriate if thats the case how do u judge glen johnson the man who woods beat 2x so whoever says he's shit needs to get the fuck out of here
cleverly is a very special fighter he could be joe calzaghe number 2, he's an intellgent crafty guy with awsome ring smarts, his power seems to be developing nicely as well
Woods hardly "beat" Glen Johnson. The scoring was favorable for the Brit.

Woods is a proven world class fighter. Cleverly shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence.
Cleverly has done nothing to suggest he is capable of beating Woods. Beating Tony Oakey and an afrobum does not put you in the same league as Clinton Woods.

My Local news (Look North) reported after the Tarver Fight that Clinton was suffering from a mild form of meningitis just before that fight which may explain things. I guess we'll see if he really has lost his legs in his next fight

I think Woods beats Cleverly fairly easliy at the moment. Cleverly hasn't proven himself yet. And I'm assuming that the Tarver fight was a just a bad night for Clinton.

Cleverley is getting set up for a Khan-esque fall.
His chin is very shaky! Any decent boxer with half a dig is going to be able to get the sums right.
Woods stops Cleverley.
