There's a story running on the BBC today about amateur boxing, saying that over the last 3 years the number of competitive fighters has gone from 7,000 to 18,000. Hopefully this means a good showing at the next Olympics.

fuck..so much 4 the threat of mma and the ufc...this upsurgence is also being reflected here in Ireland....were club memberships r swelling...as long as boxing stays healthy at the grassroots...then success at top amateur level and then professional level will follow:good

It's unsurprising though to be fair. Olympic success from Audley through Khan to this years glut. Couple that with Hatton and Calzaghe being household names, Setanta showing more fights and Sky showing more British match ups. What we really need to bring it back to the main stream is more boxing on terrestrial TV!

i have had to start turning people away, my gym is too small, i have around 12 carded boxers and another six or seven that want to fight...

never been better around my way..
