i put this on the general forum a few days ago but thought many aussies may not have seen it.

this would be an absolute bloodbath.

if these two fighters fought each other in their prime they would probably kill each other.

could you imagine the non-stop assault exchanged between them. both guys would be throwing and connecting with bombs relentlessly.

would be a candadate for foty in any era.

anyone else love to have seen this?

A nice dream fight. Fenech would be a busted up mess... Kats has a head like Barry Michael, Fenech had hands like ice-cream. As a L/W bout.... say nye nye Jeff.

Katsidis has already engaged in some hardened ring battles, and is no push over. Never takes a backward step, or shirks confrontation.... I doubt, the ever bullying tactics of Fenech would previail in this one.

Fenech was a tough fighter, yet, once he questioned proceedings, that was the end of him. Kats would be making him think.

Unlikely in a match up, due to the weight etc... Hence the immediate odds in Kats favour.

Barry, Lester, Hec Thompson , Jeff Malcolm would be more suitable due the weight.

Frankie Ropis would love that kind of opposition, an all out war assured with Kats.

I see it as a non starter due to differing weights.

This is what I wrote in that thread.

P4P, prime for prime its not even a contest...If the lightweight version of Jeff that fought Holiday and Grove turns up then Katsidas would probably beat him, though clearly Jeff was far from his prime then.

Probably the fairest way to match these two is to pit the Superfeather Fenech who fought Nelson the first time in 91 against the Katsidas that took on Diaz...Good fight, which Fenech wins quite comfortably.

Fenech is clearly past his best at 135.

You can't match these two fighters as prime V prime as Fenech really never was a lightweight. I wish these prime v prime matchups everyone seems to conjure up would stick with fighters that fought in the same weight class. Next up will be prime Darchinyan v prime Tsyzu. Its just rubbish.

with all due respect its hardly a stretch. whether u want them prime or not, as two warriors who could weight-wise quite concievably face off i think it would be a great specatacle.

fenech was sensational against nelson at 128.75lbs so its not much for them to meet half way at least.

as far as fenech being clearly past his best, i think u will find that it was probably that his heart wasn't in it at that stage of his career. post being robbed and being ko'd by nelson it was probably his head and not the weight. he went from a superstar to zero too quick.

Agreed. The concept's always good, but the practicality often lacking.

That said a 'same size and at prime' Fenech vs a 'same size and at prime' Kat would be some scrap! For mine, Fenech would do well but likely end with both mitts in plaster.
