i hate it basically i do mma as opposed to purely BJJ like some other guys at my gym do so they are at every practice as opposed to me who tries but obviously cant make it to all of them since i have to worry about boxing, wrestling, etc as well. so since i dont go to every practice i upgrade slower yet i can still beat a bunch of guys who have higher belts then me. any1 else hate that?

If you're beating higher belts then you're either ready for a promotion or else they just suck. I would let my arm get broken before I let a lower belt submit me.

I submit higher belts quite often. IMHO promotion should be given when you can submit higher belt consistently.

Doesnt happen much for me ive been training since the very end of May. Ive submitted a Bluebelt like one time I think ive dominated a few with postional wrestling and what not. The only thing I really hate is like tonight I competed with another Whitebelt albeit a much more experienced one but he fucking killed me submitted me like 4 straight times it felt like I did when I first started.

it's not the belts that matter its the people and the system. if you can submit people of a given belt then good for you, its probably the person. across the board i guarantee you're not submitting everyone at that given belt where you are. how bad do you think bj penn was subbing people when he was a lower belt? its the person that matters.

Shiiit. I hit the Gracie Baja spot and have to take on the Judo, Wrestling and Jiu Jitsu instructor at the same time, just to break a sweat.

All this tells you is that belts don't tell you everything about how good someone will be. This is an athletic pursuit after all, and someone with more strength and coordination should be able to beat someone with less given roughly equal training. Someone with way more strength and coordination being able to beat someone with way less and somewhat more training shouldn't be a surprise. It's not like before a promotion they make someone beat everyone in the school below them. Just worry about yourself and not what color belt someone else is wearing.

strenght is important, i am not very good at judo but i can beat black belts by powr slam or just grabbing the gi and throwing people. some people are high grades because of their hard work and dedication in training and some people have just got athletic gifts.

No offense, but thats teachers failure. If its as bad as you describe it, it's either charity or failure to notice incompetence.

I dont know man I notice at my gym alot of guys get promoted who dont deserve it my academy is very good but I feel like theres a certain bias to whos freinds with who and how strong they are.
