Have to say, Im getting more and more impressed with Lewis' commentary as of late. He did an excellent job on the HBO show this saturday, and it seemed to work out great with just Papa and Lewis. Max to me has not been very good with HBO and doesnt seem to fit in. He was never a good commentator, but better as a studio analyist in my opinion.

Lewis has been exposed to commentating for YEARSSSSSSSS and still isn't great.

He isn't a talker, it's just not his thing.

Hell, he has been featuring since Bowe-Holy I.

He needs to go. Bring X, maybe Tyson in.

Please!! No More Roy Jones... Instead, bring in Big George....

Actually, other than the rough speak Roy was quite insightful.

Big George is my pick, but Lennox is improving. I have not heard any more zingers from Lennox in awhile like "ALOT OF GOOD BASKETBALL PLAYERS PLAY BASKETBALL" that was funny.

RJJ is okay, so long as he isn't with Lampley.

"Brown with a left hook."
"He's been watching some Roy Jones Jr tapes, Jim!"
"Ahaha, not as good as your left hooks, Roy."

RJJ and Lewis could be an oddly listenable duo.

Or like I've suggested before...get Larry Holmes on commentary.
Round after round of him complaining about jabs, it'd be a thing of beauty.

RJJ, Lampley, Manny

My Fav.

Although of course referring to yourself in 3rd person.

But when Jones called things, like when Quartey got droped and other things. It was just crazy perfect insight.

Yes Roy Jones is pretty good. I will never forget this words over Maskaev vs Rahman 1 . " larry that is what I mean about taking chances. That is one chance Rahman should not have taken" Classic stuff. BRING BACK JONES!!!!!!

I'd love to hear him criticise Lampley's pin-ups like Taylor and Wlad. The only problem is that I'd have to wash my ears out afterwards, because of the bitter lemon juice that Holmes would be squeezing into it.

Lennox gets tangled up on his words A LOT... but I do like him as a commentator.

Are you crazy he was horrible this saturday, he kept trying to talk but had nothing really informative to say.

I dont care for Jones, but please nobody say Mike Tyson that would be a joke. Lennox actually wasnt that bad this past Sat.; he did say one good thing about Penalosa needing to go the body earlier in the fight. Than lo and behold later on in the fight Penalosa stops Gonzalez with a perfect body shot.

Roy knew his shit. He would predict shit that would happen exactly over and over again....like shit like "he's gonna get caught with a left uppercut...." and then it would happen. Definitely knowledgable.

He just talked about himself waaaay too much.

two of our best commentators are ex champs over here, barry mcguigan and jim watt.....very erudite and educated.....

I like Lewis, he getīs better and makes it pretty good right now. Another good choice would be Hopkins, heīs quite funny at times and knows what heīs talking about.

Old man Hopkins would be great, but I think his position with GBP would preclude him from commentating on most fights because it would be a blatant conflict of interest....

Not that he's done commentary for HBO, but I actually like Genaro Hernandez quite a bit...Lewis still fumbles over himself too much for my tastes, and for someone who was schooled under such great trainers, he seems to have a hard time verbalizing what's going on that the audience isn't able to see for themselves. IMHO, the point of having a former boxer doing color is that he knows better what's going on in the fighters' heads, and what adjustments they should be looking to make strategically. Lewis just doesn't do well at that at all; of course, the best at doing that right now (Teddy Atlas) drives most people absolutely batshit crazy, so maybe it's best that he doesn't say much :nut

Tyson is a horrible commentator. Its like listening to Richard Simmons call boxing. He has a lot of knowledge, but he doesnt have the best TV voice.
