I'm not talking about this promotional gimick that happened over this past weekend. I'm talking about a 16 nation tournment to take place over the course of a year or even two. Teniss has the Davis Cup why couldn't boxing do something like that? My proposal would be something like this.
Each round is a best of seven round hosted by the top seeded team. Each round will take place over two days. Each team will make arangments for match ups with each other. Tittle fights are 12 rounds non tittle fights 8 or 10 rounds. If one team clenches a win before all fights take place. The other fights will still take place. This is to help determen rankings for the next cycle of the world cup. The championsip will take place at a predertermend location.
Seeding will be done by a selection commite of boxing experts who will review each nation's worthness for the turment based on world rankings, tittles held and recent preformences by that nation's boxers.
The winner is automaticly in the next cycle at an aproproite ranking and will have a shot to defend it's tittle.
I beleve that a real world cup would bring excitment into boxing.

It's never going to happen - it would mean that promotional companies would all agree on the same term...say good bye to your idea...

Your probbly right. National/Ethinc pride and rivalies have all ways been a part of boxing. Which despite my critcism explanes the secuess of the curnt world cup promotional gimick. My ideas can be more Idealistic than realistic.
