View Full Version : Few rumours going round Vitali vs Haye is off.

Vitali is gonna fight his mandatory agaisnt Gomes. Haye could fight Wlad or might have to wait until the end of the summer.

best case scenario. Haye vs Wlad in the 02 in april, then Haye vs Vitali Unification in August at Wembley.

worst case scenario, they both avoid Haye.

I think that given Vitali's love for the green belt and everything it stands for, he will fulfill his obligation to fight Gomez.

The Haye fight may be pushed back, which would be no bad thing IMO. Another tune-up wouldn't do any harm.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is called off, I can't see the WBC not stripping Vitali if he doesn't fight Gomez next and I can't see Gomez taking step aside money, plus I can't see Vitali vacating the belt so soon after winning it.

Agree with this, but think Haye will Wlad instead if some of the rumours are anything to go by.

Also this mandatory thing stinks of bull.

Vit was kept as champion emeritus for years without even appearing active. You're trying to tell me that they'll strip him if he doesnt fight Gomez? Not a chance. There's more to it than that.

Gomez is a decent fight to be fair. He's easily top 10 and very skilled. He'll give us a good indicator of how far Vitali has slipped in these past 4 years, something Sam Peter was unable to do.

So Vitali-Gomez and Wlad-Arreola on the cards then?

What is it with these guys? Vitali would rather defend against Gomez, something I seriously doubt the WBC would force him to do, then take a chance against Haye, and Wlad is scared shitless of him.

TommyV

And Wlad talks about Haye proving himself as a top 10 heavyweight contender. He practically done that already by becoming undisputed at cruiserweight, and solidified it with the destruction of Barrett.

Yet a fight with Arreola is on the cards, and all he has on his record is a win over Travis Walker and a DQ win over Chazz Witherspoon ffs.

Gomez is a more deserving challenger than Haye.

Wlad v Haye now...come on Wlad lets destroy the hype:yep

I have to laugh at people that claim Vitali and Wlad fear Haye....

The former has legitmate mandatory obligations to fulfil...whilst the latter is now strongly being rumoured to face Haye...

When has Vitali ever been afraid of anyone? Your telling me he was willing to face Lennox fucking Lewis on two weeks notice but fears the much more unproven Haye?

Wlad has NEVER balked at the prospect of facing punchers....ever. Say what you want about the guy, but he takes on all comers. I remember people saying the same shit about him before he signed to face the then feared Sam Peter back in 2005...

Trust me, these fights WILL happen. It's more a question of when than if....

Besides, I admire David Haye for pursuing them but it would add a little bit more legitimacy to them if he beat someone like Ruiz before taking on the brothers Klit...

Nobody is a ducker or scared in this situation IMO.

It sets up a real grudge fight with the older brother then

This is hilarious..all along the fight wasnt even ON..not until after Vitali faced Gomez. Haye will have to wait just like I said he would.

No...best case scenario both fulfil their mandatories, Vitali fights Gomes, Wlad fights Povetkin. Two interesting fights in their own right.

Then Haye has a chance to fight a legit HW. And no, Monty Barrett was not legit.

This could be the best thing for Haye to be honest.

I'd be on Valuev's doorstep on my knees begging for a title shot.

Update:

David Haye's bout with Vitali Klitschko has been cancelled but the Briton could still take on Klitschko's brother.

Vitali had agreed to fight Haye on 20 June in London but the Ukrainian looks set to make a mandatory defence of his WBC heavyweight title on 31 March.

IBF and WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko has a proposed defence against Chris Arreola in March but that has not been finalised and he could face Haye.

"It looks like it's up to Wladimir," Haye's spokesman Elliot Worsell said.

Former world cruiserweight champion Haye, 28, won his first fight as a heavyweight against Monte Barrett in November, and could line up a bout with Wladimir within the next fortnight.

"David doesn't mind which Klitschko he fights and is quietly confident he'll now get Wladimir," Worsell said. "We'll see what happens in the next week or so."

Vitali's mandatory defence against challenger Juan Carlos Gomez had always been an issue with the Ukrainian agreeing to fight Haye despite the WBC maintaining he must grant the Cuban a shot first.

Do you know this for a fact then that he will take on Wlad on june 20th?

fact? no. but i heard from someone very close to wlad and his dealings. his info is usually good.

basically, a deal is in place for June 20 at Chelsea for wlad to fight haye. Wlad's camp is thinking about fighting arreola first as a stay busy fight though. he wants to fight 3x this year.

it has to be haye or arreola though since povetkin wants more time and valuev wants nothing to do with wlad.

Haye will knock him out. Vitali would be a different matter, aye, but Wlad wont be able to handle Haye's power and speed. He got stopped by brewster and sanders remember. Probably best all round if he fights Wlad first. Beating Wlad then fighting the tougher Vitali will raise the awareness and money of the vitali fight, and make everyone more money than if they fought the other way round. If, and i admit this is a big if, Haye had beaten Vitali first then fighting Wlad next would be a bit of an anti-climax.
