I voted for Penalosa because he is more complete than Pac, being a boxer-puncher and a smart tactician. I think Penalosa would have started this Filipino boxing frenzy had he came to America & showcase his talent 10 years ago? But I give Pac an edge in speed & power.

no they are the total opposites
Penalosa is all defense and can barely throw a solid 2 punch combination
Pacman is all offense and IMO has more defense with head movement and ring generalship than Penalosa with offense.

My bad, the thread title is supposed to be: Who is the better fighter? Mods pls. edit thanks.
Pac is better. Penalosa is more well rounded but at the end of the day its who can do more with what they have, and thats Pac.

I heard that Penalosa is Pac's idol. Is this true?

The only thing Penalosa has a slight advantage in is the defense. In any other department maybe besides the chin(as his appears to be solid), he is no match for Pacman. Pacman's offensive skills, speed, power, output is 10 times better than anything Penalosa can offer.

Thank God for Freddy. When Pac first came to the states, he went from Gym to Gym asking for support. He was denied by all of them until he got to Freddy Roach's wild card. Now it kinda became a Mecca for Pinoy fighters hoping to get better educated in the sweet science.

Penalosa is a durable, well-schooled veteran but Pac is a relentless puncher, and P4P the best fighter of that type in the world. I give Pac the edge by a mile in both achievment and possible future achievment.

That's true, kf. He thinks the world of him.
When Pac wasn't yet the big name he is now, he shared cramped quarters with Gerry and Buboy, his boyhood friend, at small motel just a few yards from the Wild Card Gym.
They trained together and did roadwork on Hollywood streets in the early morning hours.
When I spoke with Pac, it was clear how much he admired Penalosa as a boxer. They both underlined the importance of being a "sportsman," and making their countrymen proud.
