View Full Version : Whats going on with Chagaev?
Hes actually a pretty good fighter in the current sea of mediocrity. I know he had to pull out of the unification bout due to Hep B, but Ive not heard anything about it since then. Is he going to be forced into retirement, or is it cureable or at least some way to make it non transmittable so he can continue to box?
It would really suck if he was forced to retire.
I guess if the worst comes to the worst he can get Tommy Morrisons doctor to sign him off

Well first of you dont have to do something illegal to get Hep B, its a pretty common thing actually, hell just have to sit out a while, a long while of inactivity in order to fully recovery...

yep - there is no actual cure besides waiting it out; lets hope he doesnt get jaundice and liver cirrhosis because that could kill him

WikiSays:
"In the first few months of infection, hepatitis B does not usually get treated. Up to 95% of adults clear the infection spontaneously without treatment."
Different for chronic carriers however from what I read. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Sucks too, he is one of the better fighters in the division in my opinion. And anyone who beats Big Val is good in my book :thumbsup.

He certainly is/was one of the absolute best heavyweights, without question.
Given that they didn't give him any time to postpone or reschedule his Ibrag fight, and they've now got a WBA tournament planned, I think this tells us that the WBA suits think that Chagaev will be out for quite a while.

Hepatitis B - he'll be out for a while or he may have to call it a career
Sad really considering he's probably the 2nd best heavyweight in the world (3rd best if Vitali can return strong)

Well spoken,brooklyn!
Chagaev is one of the best top guns at heavy weight out there.I am quite positive that he would have beaten the overrated Sultan Ibragimov if.... .
I very much hope that he will recover from his health problems quite quickly!
