I'm going to give him a chance from now on.:good

And it's not just the heart, it's the speed and potential and his lovely contributions back to the community, showing that he's got spirit for things other than himself.

Khan KO 1 Thaxton, cemented prediction.

Khan is a decent prospect who will probably win a world title with help from Frank ******.

Khan will never be an elite level fighter though - no chance.

Lets not pretend Khan is a super-talent though - he is basically shit in comparison with Britains only respectable fighters, Hatton and Calzaghe.

But he has the potential to be better than everyone, didn't you know that he won the silver medal at age 17? Did Calzaghe do anything remotely that amazing?

Olympic medals are worth nothing (outside of the money they can earn you), especially medals in boxing.

I seriously doubt it is very difficult at all to win an Olympic medal.

Then go and win one then get a huge signing bonus from ****** afterwards. It's hard to qualify for the olympics let alone win, why do you think Amir was our only boxing representative last time?

Politics robbed Calzaghe of his place at the olympics, if they he hadn't he would have been well on course for a gold medal.

Not at 17 like the boy from Bolton. Hell, Calzaghe is just Welsh.

thats just WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :fire :fire :fireWe shouldn't be worshipping someone just because they were physically developed at a young age and won (if you can call second winning) a silver medal in an event devoid of any talent.

Not only that but boxing one of the few events with weight divisons!

There are 39 boxing medals up for grabs! 39!

Khan has achieved nothing in his career thus far.

Don't talk about weight divisions, how many track events are there and how many medals up for grabs there? It's all just running right why don't the sprinters do the 1500m and vice versa? You're an idiot.

i always thought khan's style was very well suited to the amateurs. i never thought he looked a big puncher and it's alright throwing lots of punches when ya only doing 4 x 2 minute rds. :bbb

China_hand_Joe

Count the running events for example. Even including the laughable steeplechase and hurdles there are less medals than are handed out for boxing.

Not only that but the best elite track athletes are fulltime athletes. Olympic boxers are part timers (or at least a lot of them are).

And that point about sprinters not winning marathons etc... Well the very best athletes might compete in both the 200m and 400m or 5k and 10k.

Lets not be blinded by our love for boxing. A medal in a respected track event is far harder to come by than a boxing medal.

I'm not disrespecting anyone you clown. I'm trying to say winning an olympic medal doesn't give you a head start in winning a pro world championship other than being in the limelight and getting an easier road to that goal.

It doesn't make you a better boxer than anyone else.

Yes - i couldn't have taken the punches from brave Audley, considering he's about 6 stone heavier than me, and i dont box. What a stupid statement to make.

winning an olympic medal does NOT make you a great boxer.

winning a olympic medal is a huge in any sport - but there is such a big difference in amature and pro boxing that it really goes for nothing there like two different sports and while khan was clearly a excellent amature with massive gloves and a head guard on he just does not have the chin to make it as a pro as soon as he meets a decent puncher (never mind a big puncher) its over for him.

The hype around Khan is unbearable. He'll probably win a world title but he won't go much further. His chin ain't good enough, If he ate a jaw breaker he'd have to take an eight count its that bad.

RJJ won a medal, look where he is now
Wladimir won a medal, look where he is now

and I can go on and on. Don't just pick Audley or the ones that had no future after the medal, there are WAY more that proved A LOT after winning the medal. Whoever thinks winning a medal is pointless is an idiot.

Promoter Frank ****** said facing Lawton, who has a record of 20 wins (four by knockout) and three defeats, would be a "real test".

Scar, you've missed the point. I said winning a medal doesn't make you a great boxer in the Pro ranks. The people you have quoted above were, or are top boxers.

That doesn't mean Amir Khan will automatically become a world champion or a great boxer, thats my point.
