I would of liked to see a Hopkin tito rematch in 2002. I still think that tito had a good chance of winning
The first fight wasn't the walkover people said it was. trinidad was always in it until about the 11th round but hopkins fought great on the night.
he never did any of tyhe fouling that he was known for in recent fights. he boxed lovely. But i still question whther he could of repeated that performance in the rematch
Look at the recent marquez vasquez fights. first time around Marquez well had the measure of vasquez. Few people thought that israel could of won second time around. look what happened there

Hopkins dominated Tito the first time and a 42 year old Hops could do it again. Whats happened recently to show otherwise?

First, I don't see why you would believe Trinidad had any chance in a rematch. Explain that statement.
Secondly, yes, the first fight was a masterclass exhibition where Hopkins came out to show that he was the best. He was fully motivated and ready to go to war. Trinidad was destroyed.
What does the fouling have to do with anything if you're saying it didn't happen?
Marquez vs. Vasquez has nothing to do with this.
Your logic is... dubious at best.

Hopkins will NEVER make another interesting fight, unless you tie him to his opponant.

The Tarver fight was pretty good. The Dlh fight was at least interesting.

bro did you see the fight?? Tito was outclassed from bell to bell...Hopkins put on a boxing clinic, was one of his best performances....gave angles, jabbed great...hit and moved...Tito didnt know what to do....Hopkins dominated more nad more as the fight progressed eventually Koing him....if the fight was close, it would not have been stopped...Tito got up, his daddy stopped it i think. because he was getting a beating towards the end...and schooled throughout..

Only if it's on the undercard of Calzaghe-Lacy II and Mayweather-Gatti II.

As a Hopkins fan, I would have to say that a rematch would have gone the way of the first fight. The Vasquez/Marquez fight is not a good comparison, because Vasquez knocked Marquez down in the first fight and had his moments. I don't think Tito ever had Hops off balance, much less stung, in their fight.

YES the 1st fight was a walk over. I had Hopkins up 10 rounds to 1 going into the 12th. Trinidad was always in it until about the 11? If you call coming forward and constantly getting tagged 'in it' then yeah i guess he was. Maybe you were paying too much attention to George Foremans nuthugging commentary.
Trinidad was outclassed and will ALWAYS be outclassed by Hopkins. For Trinidads sake he should avoid this fight. Trinidad has no contingency plan to deal with Hopkins style and at this stage of his career I feel it's too late to develop an effective style.

The Tarver fight was a great exhibition. Hopkins haters ignore it.

If Tito gets the win over Roy, yeah it would be interesting.
But only if he gets the win over Roy.
I would prefer Hopkins v Jones 2, though.:happy very good

Hopkins last good fight was Trinidad. He done, finished, over. Beating Winky Wright 20 pounds above his ideal weight doesn't mean shit.

Tito was dominated by Hopkins and would have been dominated again...there was never any need for a rematch.

Hopkins broke Trinidad down and stopped him....that kind of result doesn't usually suggest that a rematch would be interesting.

Honestly who gives a fuck what you guys think about there needing to be a rematch or not. Obviously Trinidad is fighting jones and its unlikely that he wins but if he did win I think it would just be natural that Tito Trinidad would want Hopkins. I don't think the Winky fight bothers Tito so much its more of the Hopkins fight and Tito personally would love to fight Hopkins for the sake of his pride! so who gives a fuck its Tito who would be willing to fight again and obviously the results would be just about the same shit.

bhop totally outclassed tito and it would be worst at 175, what the hell make you think that would be an interesting fight.samething as last fight but this time it would go all 12 i think.

I DONT WANT TO SEE A REMATCH NOW.
But back in 2002 i belive it would of still been interesting. I still would fancy hopkins (like most) but still think trinidad could do something
Look at ali frazier 1. If you ask me, frazier murdered him. who won the next 2 fights?
Look at zale graziano. zale had the measure of graziano, but it still didn't stop rocky winning 1 of their fights
Look at lewis holyfield fights. lewis battered holyfield first time but was pushed close second time
Sometimes you need 2 fights to see who's really best. fighters do have off nights.
The recent marquez vasquez fight highlighted that. 99% of this board fancied marquez. they fought vasquez was TITO and marquez BH

I have watched the fight 4 or 5 times. i won 500 pound on hopkins that night. brings back really fond memories. I watched it live. I though it was a near shut out at the time. but aftre watching it a few times, thought trinidad still had a chance
