If you could take one currently active fighter and fiddle them in Aussie passport, who would it be?

For me Id have to say Cotto. Hes just such a classy guy and a consumate professional. No shit talking or anything, just gets on with the job at hand. Stylistically a great guy to watch too. It would really get a lot of people into the sport in Oz if he was a local.

Who's your pick?

Id go for the nice guy and great fighter, Ricky Hatton, the way he spoke to Chicos wife after he (Ricky) beat Castillo (spelling) was beautiful......... so respectful and heart felt it was great moment for boxing IMO.

Well done Sai, starting some good threads :good

for me its a draw between Kelly Pavlik and Chris Arreola - both are crowd pleasers and would fit in well as Aussies!

I'd go with Floyd, but Muttley has probably already chosen him.

Maybe Cotto, maybe Kessler, Hatton has the trademarks of a fighter Australia could get behind.

Both great fighter!!!!

Cant wait to see the Nightmare fight again!!! He is fighting Thomas Hayes on the 21st of next month. Hayes record is 26-1 18ko but he fights chumps always , until now of course. His only lost was his 3rd fight to a guy with a record of 5w-33l, who went on to improve his record to 6w-31l :-(

Time to step up Chris!!!!!

Arreola has got nearly 6 inches of height on this guy - hopefully another big KO from the Nightmare

Whats a good weight for Chris? 220-230 or so?

Hard to say, at 6'4 i think he could be a fit 235 pounds, but he still has some fat to turn into muscle so we will wait and see.

Fuck off cunt. Cotto will destroy old man Mosley. I have no doubt in my mind. I was actually more nervous for the Judah match up then this one, because IMO Judah has better one punch power then todays version of Mosley. People still try to claim Mosley as a puncher, but lets face it, while he isn't feather fisted, he certainly isn't a puncher anymore, having taken guys like Estrada, Cruz and Collazo the distance in recent times.

Couldn't agree more. Attitude much like Kostya Tszyu. Very respectful, yet very tenacious in the ring. Great exciting style.

Are you serious? Floyd has no Aussie trademarks. Aussie fighters are traditionally very tough, with all action styles. Floyd is a defensive counter puncher, and a big mouth as well. Come to think of it I couldn't think of anyone who would fit in less as Aussie fighter. Agree with Kessler and Hatton though definitely.

Arturo Gatti i would have loved to have been an Aussie.
Great heart, which all Aussies would embrace.
Same goes for lots of Puerto Rican, Philipino & Mexican boxers too.

Gatti would be loved by any country. The guy was just a freak. Hopefully Katsidis can become our Gatti, although fingers crossed with a bit more talent.

I agree that Katsidis definitely has the pulling power of Gatti. Hes definitely gonig to be an arena filler one day. I just hope he works on his defense, otherwise hed be in for a very rough night against some of the Mexican guys.

What bout someone like Paul Williams.... he's still fairly young and willing to take on the best, plus he has a bright future withhis size he could go up and possibly become a 2 or 3 divison champ.... plus like Cotto he is in a division full of top quality opposition

I dont ever remeber reading about Katsidis in the sun herald or ever hearing bout him on the news....

The guy is a top fighter and deserves to get more exposure in the media so we can find out about whats goin on with one of Aus best fighters and so we dont have to keep hearin crap about willie mason apprently fighting or another Hoppa story
