View Full Version : Oliver McCall's Plans

For those of you who didn't see the fight, afterwards McCall said he wanted to fight Sinan Samil Sam again in Turkey, before facing either Vitali Klitschko or the winner of Peter/Maskaev. He said "God" about 42 times and hopes SSS's eye is ok.
He also said that Lewis beat Klitschko (I wish he would have said "No doubt Vitaly would have been KO'd in the 7th round!" or "Lewis TKO6", but alas not) and said that Lewis was a great champion. Apparently, he wants to tell Lewis that "I've got to give it to you baby", whatever that means.
He was also totally unmarked and looks about 24. Time (and drugs) have been kind to McCall.

Since he's unlikely to see a WBC title shot for a year at the very best, he'll need to keep his hand in and not just sit on the sidelines collecting dust.
I can see why he'd consider going a second time with SSS...I just that doesn't blow up in his face. Toney blitzed his own WBC title shot by taking on Peter, after all.
But he will need at least a couple opponents, if not three between now and whenever the Vitali/Maskaev/Peter series is finally concluded.
As for his chances...well, I think he'd have a better chance at another belt.
He's slow and he's never been a technical master. He has his power and his chin, though.
It would be a comeback for the ages if he won the WBC belt back again.

How hilarious would it be if McCall fought (and beat) Vitali, Maskaev beat Peter, and we were left with Peter-McCall? That'd be pushing for the record of "oldest combined age of a heavyweight title fight". In fact, I wonder which heavyweight title fight did have the oldest competitors. :huh

Well considering he's fought about 200 times since his decision loss to Williamson a few years back, I think it's safe to say he'll stay busy.

Sure he said Lewis beat Vitaly... it makes him look better, as he KO'ed Lewis. I can't consider Lewis a real winner against Vitaly.

What, a stoppage due to facial injury and potential loss of eyesight isn't good enough for you?
Let's not go there, this thread will end up 100+ pages ;)

Yea, we know it's a stoppage for cuts, but no one knows how it would have/could have ended. I'm not partial.
Furthermore, I don't see McCall getting far, but I wish him the best.

McCall would have a great chance against Wlad, I think. The big guy wouldn't be able to knock Oliver out, and when that right finally hits Klitchko's chin...well..

Indeed. I'm a little surprised that one hasn't been started already. BTW that wasn't an invitation to start one.

Are you serious? McCall beat Sam, Diaz, and the Wilsons... big deal. Golota might have a better chance.

Oliver beat Sam, Lennox, Seldon, Akinwande, Maskaev, Diaz, Damiani, Saleta, so why in hell would he not beat any of the curent champions..
I give him a hell of a chance..
Evidence is in his performances......
God bless..

Agree on all points. :good
And here is what the only victor over McCall since the Lewis fight looked like in his victory.
