convincingly, will you guys get off of his back? Just curious. the whole "bash Jermain Taylor" mentality is the one topic that bothers me on here. It is ridiculous. The guy is always taking on tough fights and whether or not you agree with the decisions you have to agree that he's made the fights close against VERY TOUGH competition.
People easily forget it. I know a huge majority seem to want Pavlik to KO Taylor because of this strange hatred they have for Taylor. I for one respect both fighters and see the fight for what it is. A good fight between to top fighters in their division.
its a good win either way. I'll give either fighter his due, but I do believe Taylor will win.
anyway, if he wins will you guys get off of his back?

It will make my opinion of him go up, because I'd be surprised, but I'd still criticize the horrible decision over Wright and then the robbery of Hopkins 1, because those simply were not fair.
I will, though once he moves up in weight after this fight, he will have to start proving himself all over again as competent at the next weight class. His 160 lb legacy will be secure though, providing a decisive win over Pavlik materializes.

i am a fan of taylor but am getting bored with him lately that is all.....i think he will beat pavlik by decision hopefully in an exciting fight so people can start to appreciate him again. i just dont understand him, he has alot of talent but he comes to fight and doesnt use all of his tools, he fights at his opponents level therefore making boring fights.
i do think he has won every fight though, except for maybe the spinks fight idk.

I will give him lots of credit for it however I've always been on his side.
The first fight with Hopkins was a fight, given how close it was, should have been scored for the champion.
I do think he beat Winky, Bhop II, and Spinks.

he will get lots of credit for beating Pavlik, who is a true middleweight and big puncher. he deserves his critcism on the other stuff though IMO.

I have no problem with Taylor. I just think he has so much more potential than he's shown us so far. I just hate to see talent go to waste.

I do think he beat Winky, Bhop II, and Spinks.out of all those fights i think the one he lost for sure was the winky fight. i couldn't believe it when they announced the winner.

Mr Boogie, Don't apologize to anybody. This is not English class. Some people on here act real tough or think they are GOD's Gift to the world. Everybody knows what you meant. Do your thing man. As far as Taylor vs Pavlik. If Taylor wins he will be taken seriously once again. And he will be a major player in boxing.

I think it's more likely that Pavlik will be devalued as a fighter should Taylor beat him convincingly. He'll be written off as a hype job and that Taylor's win doesn't mean shit.
You all know how it works!

I've never had a problem with Taylor nor his title run. His first two defenses were against the two best middleweight contenders in Hopkins and Wright. Ouma and Spinks were obviously a step down, but not the drastic step some made it out to be. I would rate Ouma and Spinks as top 15 middleweights themselves, at the least. You could make an argument to put both down as top 10 middleweights actually. If Taylor had taken on another fighter on the level as Ouma and Spinks I would have seen him as a target for criticism. Instead he's taking on the top middleweight contender, again. I suppose an argument could be made for Abraham as the top contender but I think Pavlik is seen as the top threat by most. I have nothing but praise for Taylor and his choice of opponents. He does, however, need to start looking better than his last two times out, I think that is where the real criticism should lie. Not who he's been facing but how he's looked doing it.

If Taylor beats Pavlik, 5 years down the road it won't be looked as one of his "great" wins.

I'm not so sure about that. Pavlik is seen as a big threat to Taylor, and rightfully so. He is undefeated, has size, power, and just beat a top 5 middleweight himself in Miranda. Right now Pavlik rates just behind Hopkins and Wright as far as challenges to Taylor. And this time Taylor will not be the younger man either.
Maybe Pavlik loses and never gets back to where he is now, if that happens than beating Pavlik won't look nearly as good 5 years from now. I think the opposite happens. Win or lose(I think Pavlik is a slight favorite here), I feel Pavlik goes on to have a very nice career be it at middle, supermiddle, or even light heavy.

Maybe in some people's eyes, but I'd give Taylor a ton of credit for it. I say let the best fighter win :good
