Well he has had about 50 fights now, so he has to squeeze 10 out already from his opposition.
Care to find them? Even with the HOF's worsening credibility I think you would be hard pressed to find 10 future HOF's in Pac's record.

Robinson, Duran, Ali, Greb, Walcott, Charles, Burley.... Griffo might be one outstanding exponent to not forget.

Duran, Ali in modern times. Lennox Lewis fought everyone he could bar Bowe .

Ezzard Charles, Ray Robinson and Archie Moore faced 40 or more ranked contenders.

But Robinson didn't meet Burley and Williams. Moore and Charles fought just about everyone, didn't they?

Ezzard Charles has to be up there, but Greb would probably take it.

I was merely stating that he met more than 40 ranked contenders, not that he supposedly avoided Burley and Williams.

Ok. I just prolonged the thought as to whether Robinson belongs among those who met the best opposition.

Meeting more than 40 ranked contenders, one would think so, no?

Well, Moore and Charles did as well - plus Burley and each other. That should put them a notch above Robinson in terms of opposition.

While i agree both belong a bit ahead of him, citing Burley and Williams is hardly the be all and end all. I rate the other two a little above, but not because he didn't fight Burley and Williams.

It makes a difference, though. Moore's 4 best opponents (Charles, Ali, Marciano, Burley) is quite possibly better than anyone Robinson fought, as is Charles's (Moore, Burley, Louis, Marciano).

In the overall scheme of things i don't think fighting Burley and Williams would have propelled Robinson ahead. If you think it makes a difference (as you state above) then you imply you would have ranked Robinson's comp ahead of the other pair's if he met Burley and Williams. I'm not so sure.

No, they would still have met the better opponents. But Robinson would be a bit closer.
