Not listened yet but Is Kessler signing his soul to Calzaghe I wonder?:D

Did he say something about Tim Henman at the end there?

Is this guy any good? I have to admit I've never seen him fight, the knock on him seems to be a lack of variety......????

Simular to Veit with quicker footwork and a more schooled jab.

He's better than anyone else at SMW to be honest. It all depends on what shape Calzaghe is in.

Hand & Age

His body ain't got wear and tear at 35 except for his hands.

I didn't realise Kessler was left handed. Weird. Being a southpaw might have added that awkward dimension to his style that is lacking. Spose that's why his jab is so strong though.

Sorry nothing about Tim Henman...;)

He said: Him and i have to show whos the best in the world, he think that he is, and i think i am, so it is perfect that we are going to meet(fight) each other. It is going to be a big fight!

I've seen about 11 of his fights, and have seen about 5 of Calzaghe's, and I'm seeing a Kessler win. Though I wouldn't be overly surprised if Joe wins in any fashion. You just can't rule out Joe.

Kessler isnt a southpaw

Yeah I know. I was saying that in the video he writes with his left hand. So what I mean is that he is a left hander that fights in an orthodox stance.

if you look at my avatar that's what will happen to jc a number of times on nov 3rd possibly 3 or 4 times then a late stoppage

Hahah this is funny. Joe did go down in that match for the first time in his career but he recovered very fast and counter attacked and won the match.

I dumbt very much that will happen on november 3-rd.

and faster hands and harder punches and higher workrate and better counterpucher and ... and ...

I think that's a stupid comparison, but hey, it's from Blocky.

He wasnt hurt, and wisely took a knee. He got up at about 3. Then he smacked the absolute shit out of him. Pissing of Calzaghe by hitting him was the worst mistake Mitchell ever made. Calzaghe beat him so hard that he retired.

Were you aware that before Calzaghe Mitchell lost a controversial UD to Ottke. The very same light hitting home cooked German that nearly put your favorite Bumdine into a coma!

Mitchell also beat Siaca once by SD and then another by TKO, also KOed Frankie Liles as well, who is a top 12 SMW of all time by most standards.

Mitchell wasn't great, I gave the Ottke fight to him on my card, but he was far from bad and had Kessler defeated Mitchell in 2004 or so even after Calzaghe annihilated him, Kessler fans would be crediting the win over Mitchell like they do with a shot Siaca and a shot Lucas, and Mundine for that matter.

I wish Mitchell would have stuck around, he had solid fundamentals and could turn any fight around with a single punch, his chin wasn't bad either.

IF Kessler does that to Joe even once, he will take a beating like he's never received before. It really is in his interests to hold back a little and pick Joe off rather than try and go for a KO with him.

If he does, Joe will beat the utter bollocks off of him, probably finishing his career.

I really did convince you eh mate?

Not two weeks ago you were torn on making a prediction, now you've gone on the crusade like the rest of the Calzaghe fans.:good

Fantastic though, more realisation into this fight dictates that it's nothing more than a stepping plate for Calzaghe to cement his rightful place as the greatest 12 st. fighter of all time, wait until 20 years time gets ahold of Calzaghe's resume also, instead of ridicule, he's going to get good credit for Eubank, Sheika, Woodhall(top 15), Mitchell, Starie, Reid, Lacy and then Kessler of course and whoever else ends up on the chopping block there after.

Amsterdam, I'm curious. What made you a JC fan in the first place? Was it one particular fight or did you see him early in his career?

Eubank bout was the first I saw and I was immensely entertained from the start of it, at age 15. 10 year fan.

He's since become my favourite all time fighter and you and I both know how easy it's been to show massive appreciation to Calzaghe post-Lacy, rather than pre-Lacy where I was laughed at from pretty much all non-UK residents.

 It's easy to forget that life even existed before Lacy. I went through a phase of massive frustration at the time of Reid, Thornberry & Starie. It was painful to watch because I knew he was capable of so much more. I couldn't have been more delighted at the way he handled Sheika.

Yes, he wrecked Sheika's whole career, likely Lacy's also. I also like the way he handled Brewer, whom Ottke got a very blatant robbery gift the first time around and a less blatant, but still unfair hometown decision against him in the second.

That was definitive to me.

I'm hoping for that too. Calzaghe to win comfy UD. Pretty much everyone wants to see this fight, even Mundine will be keeping an eye on things.

i think I was just hesitant because kessler was suddenly considered such a threat. Your post did make me look at a few things, then I started searching out all of Kessler's fights which led me to this conclusion.

I didn't realise you were the same age as me, Amsterdam - that's the first of his fights that I saw too. Though I fell out from boxing (due to the scourge of Murdoch and having no friends with Sky - the Eubank fight was a luckily timed with me being on holiday at a hotel showing it) for years up maybe 2004 - then I climbed right back on.

He's considered a threat like Lacy was, boxing fans are emotional and nationalistic and often aren't looking at it clear headed.

Believe it or not, but Pernell Whitaker was the fighter who got me into boxing, I'm more impressed by skill and showmanship than I am with slugfests.

Calzaghe should be very careful and active during the fight if he wants to make sure he'll win, which i think he will for sure.
Great boxer.

GOOD CALL:lol:

Judging by the reports - he'll only be keeing one eye on things though...

As for this: "if Kessler floors Calzaghe he'll loose because Mitchell bla bla bla bla" - it's crap - did Calzaghe get back up and knock out the migthy Salem after Salem floored him in the 4th??? If Calzaghe gets back up and tries to do what he did to Mitchell he'll run into a hard jab and a right cross and be back down again!

That said I doubt Kessler will floor him - I think we'll see a close 12 rounds fight - with Kessler as the winner.

But no mater the result - I hope for a great fight - hopefully close enough for a rematch :D

As for Mitchell's level - he was a good fighter - no doubt - but nowhere near great - two close fights with Siaca says it all - Good but not great.
