I listened to them back in College...probably 1968-1970 era.
The interest I think led to the Ali-Marciano "fight" later.

This is not the best fights ete. Its a release of the Ali Marciano Superbout, 2 disk DVD that came out 2 years ago about.
You can still order it on line. Worner's son pretty much push to get this relase legel on DVD.

I am trying to remember who made it to the Finals.
I think I remember....but maybe shouldn't say and spoil it for others.

It's funny to think how much stock people put in the calculations of a computer that wouldn't even be able to begin to present this webpage.

I want to hear the radio broadcast of the fights, particularly for the older fighters. Worner was an older person when he produced the event in 1967, so he knew and probably could describe real old timers on radio.
Here were the results of the tournament.

The Dempsey Marciano fight was pretty neat to hear, almost made you belive that Baer would beat Johnson, when you hear how the fight is discuss or the blow by blows. Still its all in good fun.

Its all fun...I remember them...some very odd results like Dempsey W15 Louis (you would think that fight would be a KO) Marciano W15 Tunney and Jeffries W 15 Ali...funny when I used to talk to Nat Fliecher and some of the old timers, they would make you believe there era was better

Jeffries W 15 Ali...
Jeffries was robbed against Marciano later in the tournament. A TKO? Jeffries doesnt have TKOs. This was for the all time greatest, it should have been a proper fight to the finish, not some corrupt hybrid rule 15 rounder. Jeffries was only warming up and had no injuries at all compared to what he consistently overcame during the course of his career. He was robbed i tell you.
This decision was one of the biggest disgraces in the history of boxing. Who was the ref anyway?
And as for Marciano, how in the world does he justify winning the title and defending it against a guy who was already outclassed by the great Jim Jeffries.

At the time this was done....the "second half of Ali's career" had not occurred, and
the Rock had only been retired for 10-12 years or so.

Also at this Time Marciano and Dempsey were very highly rated, for someone my age, 50, it is hard to take people downgrading these two when I grew up thinking of them as gods.

I think that the computer may have changed its results, if it was known just how Good Alis unproven chin was!

Perhaps, but Ali was outbox by The boilermaker in that tourment. So who knows??
And re listen to Marciano Dempsey, Dempsey went down 5 times. I find that hard to belive Dempsey in his prime would be floor 5 times.
