no keep busy fights planned for him?

it could be a very long time before he gets a shot at the title holder so he would have to have a couple of relatively meaningless fights until then u would think.

How do you think you would go?

Is there something you have seen in sparring that you believe you could exploit?

In all honesty it seems like a very big step up. Kali is a genuine world class fighter, who has had some very good wins in recent times.

Seems like a big risk, for perhaps not such a big reward in return.

kegsy, the point is kali is very respected in international boxing and it is a fight that could catapult me into the spotlight where the big money is, there is no money in boxing unless you are at the top as we know, which is why i have to work , my sparring in usa has shown what i thought, the guys at the top are not superhuman,

Fair enough. Good luck to you then if it comes off, would be a great match up, one of the best to be made in the local scene IMO. Credit for wanting to take the risk.

How is the training going in the states BTW?

Looking cut up in the profile pic. Are the facilities a lot better? Have you been improving a lot since you got there, and getting better sparring?

(this is MSTR btw, had to change username)

mstr, im back in perth, training in usa was nothing special but the sparring was great, i trained with guys like cory spinks, mike mollo ,ray austin and others, most are quite lazy, mollo is a very hard trainer but he is the exception, there is just so much more opportunity and money for boxing in usa. My body fat in the pic was 10% was for the kooser fight, waste of time fight cause original opponent pulled out but better than nothing still got payed the same. The training camp was great sparring top heavyweight 3 times a week and i improved out of sight and so did my confidence in my ability. Ipswich Camacho was very friendly a great fighter but an even better entertainer, i enjoyed watching his ring entrances back in the day

Interesting read, good to hear the sparring went well then:good

I'm not surprised that guys like Ray Austin are quite lazy, it shows in the way they perform.

Why so?

Just the amount of BS that came out of his mouth every time he was interviewed. In a lot of boring fights. Rosario turned him from the Macho Man to the Not So Macho at all...

Showed guts against Chavez though. His corner wanted to pull him out and he refused, despite getting his arse thoroughly spanked.

It would be nice to see Kali get another meaningful fight and earn a nice check. He's a decent fighter and a good guy to boot. I really gained a lot of respect for him after the Brewster fight. He should have gotten the nod that night but the judges shafted him. He had every right to argue the decision but all he could offer up was praise and respect for Lamon. Very classy.

To me it is a risk but for a big reward, kali has fought Rahman, brewster, etc.
To add his name on mark's record would be great.

Kali is WBA no.1 contender, waiting for Valuev and management to stop dodging him and give his the shot at the title. He has worked himself into position for it but Valuev went and fought Holyfield instead.

C'mon bobby, with all due respect there's nothing to gain from another loss. Your better of taking on the likes of briggsy, leapia, hoppa, sol before stepping in with kali. Honestly how would you rate your chances against the fore mentioned & what are your strenghts that you would use against them in order to get the win. On current form you would have to be the underdog in all bouts. Whats your thoughts.

The problem is Mark has signed with King before he has done anything in the sport and fact of the matter is it is now very hard for him to go anywhere.

Even kings world champs are lucky to get 2 fights a year so for an up and comer that needs to be fighting 5 times a year, two sign with him is career death.

You can only train and spar for so long without starting to go backwards because every fight is like your first one.

mark who was the best fighter you have sparred in all honesty out of the heavyweights?
personally we havent seen much to judge weather you can beat kali or not, buts its a good sign that your willing to fight him...
kali has decent skills for a big guy and when in rythm is quite a good puncher that will test your chin out..
whats your weight sitting at?

if kali meehan fought wlad klitschko what chance would he have of winning.

although he would be a big underdog i think his hight, reach and ko power would make it much harder for wlad than he has had against some of his other opponents in recent times.

if kali was to use his jab well and be sure to throw his fair share of punches he would have to have some chance surely.

if he were to have a proper preparation it would be interesting to see how he would fair against wlad.

It seems even at WBA#1 Kali is always considered last to fight for the belt.

He should ask the WBA to appoint an eliminator between him and Bidenko for the mandatory position, I think he is entitled to, that way they can't ignore him.

Briggs hasn't signed with King and Kali's first fight with King was for a world title so he had already done something in the sport:good

Err Briggs was with King and was widely known other than Adamek he couldn't get meaningful fights approved by DKP, thats the thing they sign with King and get a big fight first up, after that they have zero control on what they want to do.
