Great match up this would be a very hard fight to pick. Arguello could break Esteban down and stop him in the championship rounds but I think DeJesus has enough to outbox Alexis and gain an early lead which makes all the difference at the end. Dejesus UD 9-6.

Great matchup.
Alexis had the power to hurt and beat Esteban.
On the other hand, DeJesus did have the skills and smarts to defeat Arguello. Not that Arguello was bad in these departments.
I pick Alexis to win 2 out of 3, but would not oppose anyone who would reverse that.

Classic Arguello fight. DeJesus would be ahead on points when he'd be KO'd, probably around round 13.
I think Arguellos boxing skills are being overlooked here. I personally think they are good enough to gain parity with DeJesus. The telling factor is the power difference so for me Alexis wins 8-7, 9-6 or maybe a late TKO

Yeah my first thoughts also. Giving DeJesus benefit of the doubt as Arguello is one of my favourite fighters all time and thought i may be a touch biased

I too think Arguello takes it in the championship rounds. Over 10 possibly DeJesus on points.

arquello would be getting outboxed and losing rounds but his brutal bodypunching would take its toll heading into the late rounds. His pinpoint head shots would then finish dejesus somewhere around the 12th round in an exciting battle.

I do think DeJesus is capable of winning this fight to tell you the truth.
But it would have to be a situation that suits him..Like Al said over the 10, much like how Fernandez mugged Alexis.
Id actually be relatively confident of picking DeJesus over 10..and I think over 12 its a closer call than many think.
At best over the 15 I could envisage Esteban being slightly ahead on points as he fades and gets stopped around the 13th or 14th however.
I think they are quite evenly matched...its just that certain weaknesses of Esteban complement certain strengths of Alexis and over the championships distance they will more than likely come into play.
Just how I see it.

Arguello late TKO or decision for mine.

Arguello might force DeJesus to come forward and lead, and DeJesus wasn't comfortable doing that (see his fights with Cervantes and Duran III). In fact, I think this fight might bear some similarity to DeJesus' fight with Cervantes.
I'd take Arguello to finish strong and win by clear decision or late-round stoppage.

If DeJesus can get this scheduled as 10 rd fight I would give him an even chance or just below. I just see Arguello as to much for him in a 12/15 rd fight. I would lean towards a late arguello stoppage

Arguello wins this by 13th round kayo, but DeJesus makes it a close one.

:dealA dramatic, 1 punch ko in the 14th for AA after he was behind on points without a chance of winning a decision.

Arguello mid to late round knockout. Different level.
I like DeJesus by decision in a good fast fight. I like his mobilty, footwork and crisp counters. Arguello was an easier target to find than Duran. More measured and he would give DeJesus the time and room he needed to box.

The computer reults;
The fight at 135 lbs.
A 15-round Draw.
Esteban DeJesus wins the early rounds with counter-punching and a slick defense.
DeJesus scores a flash-knockdown on Alexis in Round 4. A left hook finds its mark.
He nearly scores another knockdown in Round 6, as Alexis stumbles backwards and into the ropes.
Alexis Arguello begins his charge in Round 8 and controls the later rounds with his
heavier punching.
Esteban is leg-weary in Rounds 14 and 15, but stays upright, and Alexis cannot
land the big punch to floor him.
In Rounds its 7-6-2 for the 'Thin Man, but in points its a Draw.
Arguello doesn't have the physical presence or same MOnzon-esque way of fighting tall that a 140 Cervantes does. His feet aren't as good either, he doesn't take the subtle half-steps and slides to the side that a Cervantes would use.By this stage he's become more of a tight, stiff legged Tito-esque fighter that can be turned repeatedly.
I think this would be very close.50\50 even.Dejesus will be vulnerable late, but his movement and own vicious offence may take enough starch out of Arguello and let him avoid a late KO.a similar sort of fight to the Marcel bout at 126, with possible mild controversy over the decision.
