Again, Im not saying it would have changed the outcome, but man this shit is just not kosher. Rubbing in the neck shoulders and upper back..forget any high or rubber guard positions. Forget gogo or chokes as well.
Jackson said its a ritual but wow why not just touch GSPs crotch and not rub him this way, its weird and out of place

Looks like an accident to me. Forgot he had vaseline on his hands. It would have been a little bit anyway.

It does look out of sequence, I think pouring water on his head is first. I think what the complaint was is they were doing this over and over. For someone to notice and bitch and complain to officials, it was definitely not a 10 second gaffe, it went on.
GSP seems like he doesnt know because if I recall, he was very comfy, confident and not even breathing hard in between rounds. Its just a stupid thing a corner would do.

wait. im confused is it illegal to put vaseline anyere? or is only alowed on the face?

Im pretty sure its only allowed on the face. Whatever the outcome is, the NSAC need to have a person in each corner to check whats going on in between rounds.

Non issue, total diversionary tactic by Penns camp.
Here is the exact rule
"2. The excessive use of grease or any other foreign substance may not be used on the face or body of an unarmed combatant. The referees or the Commission’s representative in charge shall cause any excessive grease or foreign substance to be removed."
It was followed, to the letter, the commission removed what little grease may have made it.
It is a non issue.

They have them, he wiped GSP with a towel.
They check the fighters before the fight, they watch them in between rounds, and there are cameras on them at all times, if somebody believes they are just going to intentionally try and rub vasoline on a guy and get away with it they are nuts.

The problem is the grease between rounds 1 and 2 are the ones that didnt get wiped. The one after rd two got wiped because the official walked into the cage to do it himself

Thats because the official who gets paid to make it his entire purpose in life for 30 minutes to see if there is any illegal activity going on in the corner said there was no illegal activity going on in the corner.
There is an entire system in place to deal with this, they oversaw every second, they casually wiped him down once, thats it.

The same stupid officials that came short of calling GSPs victory tainted, check out the NSCA comments.
The point of this is GSP would have won anyway..30 lbs of pure muscle advantage for a guy thats very good all around is insurmountable to begin with.

I stick with BJ, its a matter of taste, his style of fighting is my preference
win or lose.
Same with A. Silva, Machida and Fedor..

Yeah, I know they have them but my point was they need someone inside right away in both corners monitoring at all times. For example after round 3, there are 2 guys with GSP while the guy who is with BJ is just strolling around is isn't really close enough most the time. Bascially, some of them need to do a better job to avoid something from happening in the future.
But your right, they have guys in there and if there was serious concern they would have brought it up and dealt with the matter. Like how they did at the end of rd 2. You can hear one of the NSAC guys say you are rubbing his back, then before he goes he grabs the towel and wipes GSP's back.

Yeah they did. Props to Penn for thinking he is good enough and had the balls to do so. He wasnt good enough. The reality is GSP is a much bigger guy and his specialty wrestling overrides BJs JJ(which I prefer).
The Wrestling discipline is still predominant in the sport, there will come a time though that taking someone down will a rare occurence

I like Lesnar, everytime he fights something special is going to happen, yeah he's brash and hes a wrestler. But hes a very exciting wrestler, coz he is top of the food chain. He throws people around and taunts them, I like that. At the end of the day this is entertainment and I want to be entertained. Everytime this guy steps into the ring he punches in the face and knocks them down viloently and hes a wrestler, see I like that

It wasn't just wrestling. GSP dominated the striking landing crisp jabs and good kicks while BJ couldn't land anything significant on the feet.
GSP is a more skilled more versatile fighter than Penn. Penn is only better than GSP at BJJ, and submission defense is a lot easier than submission offense.

Don't need times, we need to watch the thing in 'real time'. But would that make him any more slippery than working up a good sweat? I mean if it was just a minimal amount left over from when he did the face.

What?? The first rd was barely GSP. 2nd round BJ came out with a 1-2 then got taken down and it was done, no one to blame but BJ. The difference was BJ couldnt secure his guard, due to GSPs sheer brute strenght and size. The guy is an incredible athlete, miles ahead of BJ, strong and explosive. Skillwise they are even, its his athletic attributes that pushes him over.

Shit article. He says some things that aren't backed up by stills. Nothing is CLEAR from those photos. While what he says MIGHT be true, using stills simply do not back up his claims. How do we know he went straight to the body after going to his hand in the second picture? We don't. He could have been wiping excess back onto his hand for all we know.

Twice the fighter? No. GSP proved that he is a Professional Athlete, and BJ Penn is a talented fighter.

No, I didn't mean that. I wasn't trying to say GSP ISN'T a fighter. I was saying that the disparity between the two is professionalism and athleticism. It's not that GSP has better fighting instincts or even skill for that matter, although he may. I wasn't insulting GSP at all.
