I know we have discussed this before, but I love this matchup.

SRR obviously possesed it all, but Hearns boxes beautifully from the outside, uses his range, and has an eraser.

I favor SRR in the fight, I think he being the great fighter he finds a way to beat Tommy, and eventually Tommys chin betrayes him around the 8th or 9th round.

But still, you have to give Hearns a great chance.

At 147, I would go with SRR by late rounds stoppage, but Hearns would put a hurting on him before he fell.

If they fought at 154 or above, I'd go with Hearns.

Hearns is a load for anyone. Tough fight. Another great dream match idea.

I would say SRR by a mid round stoppage... Midround considering 15 rounds.

Hearns outboxes SRR for few rounds and then starts getting caught.

SRR via KO rounds 8-10.

Hearns would give him some trouble for sure at first but I think it would swing towards Robinson's fight fairly quick.

Hearns cuts Robinson, and has his moments, maybe even leads on points after 7 or 8, but Robinson savagely knocks him out , emphatically that is in 9.

Robinson was forged steel from the era when great fighters FOUGHT everybody. There were no chickenshit Roy Jones type games played. Hearns, as great as he was, would have ended up just like Turpin in that second fight with Sugar Ray.

I think if they try to box with each other, Hearns has the advantage clearly, but Robinson was a great boxer/puncher/brawler, just like Hearns, only difference being Robinson was a lot more durable. I think Robinson turns it into a brawl pretty quickly to gain the edge, and his superior chin holds up better than Tommy's. TKO 5 for Robinson. Action packed.
100% agree. It wouldn't be a boxing match for long as SRR would see that wasn't going to go his way.

SRR by KO in the 7th. Hearns would get on the bike long enough to get into the middle rounds.

The question is, if Hearns hits SRR with that right hand, does he go down?

at 147 SRR ends it in 5...his chin and durability are the key advantages over Hearns, and SRR would make it a slugfest once he realizes Hearns' boxing ability...but at 160 it becomes much harder for SRR, and i'd pick Hearns...

I say yes, especially if Hearns gets full extension on it. SRR didn't have the world's greatest defense and he's been drpped by far less powerful, less accurate and slower punchers than Hearns.

It's definitely possible for SSR to go down, but he wouldnt stay down, and that, again is what seperates SSR from just any other pug.

IT ALL DEPENS ON THE WEIGHT. aT WELTER i like srr mid to late rounds

But i think light middle-middle tommy (82 to 86) has a great chance

As highly as I rate ray robinson, he never fought a boxer - puncher with a great reach like Tommy

I still fancy 'The Greatest' on most nights
