Hey Adam, that's not too far from me. I'll see if I can stop by and say hello.

Jefferies was my all time favorite heavyweight. I hope Pollack does just as well, as he did for the Sullivan, Corbett and Fitzsimmons books....I can imagine, if he continues writing onward, the next book after Jeffries will be something along the lines of "The Heavyweight Mess" with Hart becoming champion, and Tommy Burns becoming champion taking the title abroad, all the while Jefferies boasting that he was still the true champion, as no man had defeated him in the ring.

Any idea what time that would be in the UK?

I think Apollack will do a fine job, but in order for the book to be great, I think he needs to clear up some misconceptions, and discover some new data. The trouble is you going to have to shell out a lot of money and bleed your eyes on micro film of obscure news papers to find the good stuff.

Jeffries early career is hazy, but news papers reported he was something like 22-0 long before he meet Fitzsimoons for the title. Jeffries fights in Europe, and USA tour fights where he would give any man $500 who could last four rounds with him must be out there.

I also think the Johnson fight, and what Jeffries said in the aftermatch should be ironed out as well, though Apollack tends to end his books before a fighters final chapter in the ring.

Thanks, playing it now. Good stuff so far. Few fans know that Sullivan had to play the London prize ring game, and beat the best there before he could fight Queensberry rules.

I did not know London prize ring gave the knocked down fighter 38 seconds to get up!

Solid stuff. I liked Sullivan at Madision Squre Garden, and was unaware he KO'd the American champ with Gloves ( Goss ), but since it was with gloves, it did not count.

I also did not know about Sullivan breaking his left arm, or becoming ill.
