Who you all got?
I think Hop would trouble Toney with his movement, but Toney would get the better of exchanges.

Hopkins 8-4.

Hopkins wide decision
If Hopkins decides to rely only on his outside game its a possible shutout Toney is not half as impressive when forced on the front foot.

Hopkins.
Better footwork, faster, better at controlling range-and he would clearly win the outside battle and be basically an equal on the inside. Toney just became more flat-footed as he moved up in weight, and the worst stage of his career was when he was a LHW.

Hopkins is just the better fighter straight up..better at middle and better at lightheavyweight where a much younger Toney really had a patchy record at.
I also think he has a stylistic advantage over James as he can fight a fight that Toney doesnt enjoy dealing with.
Dont think he beats him a clearly as Roy did..But I agree 8-4 seems reasonable.

I agree totally, Hopkins wide decision.

Hopkin's. He isn't made to order for Toney's counter punching like Barkey, or Charles Williams or Sosa. Too smart to get suckered into fighting James fight.

I like Hopkins at 175. I would take Toney at 168 and even at 170 catchweight. but I think Hopkins is much better at 175. i think a fight at 160 would be compitive.

Hopkins evolved into a fighter that could defeat Toney at any weight in my opinion. Hopkins' style just isn't well suited for Toney. As someone already stated, the way to defeat Toney is to make him come forward. It is still not a guaranteed victory if get him to be the aggressor. Ask Mike McCallum about that.
I would favor the best version of Hopkins to defeat Toney. I would pick Toney over Hopkins at 160, and 168, in the early to mid 90's. Hopkins was still a little raw when he first became champion. His game began to take off after his first fight with Mercado.

Hopkin's used to actually be a boxer/puncher of sorts, he'd almost always lead in fights.
Something like that would play into Tony's hands.

That is why I said I would pick Toney over Hopkins in the early, and mid, 90's.

Wow. Not a lot of love for Toney?
Firs up, this would be an incredibly boring fight, I bet. The winner would be the guy most successful at forcing the other guy to commit, and to my mind that would indeed be Hopkins.
But a shit fight can be scored any old way, as we saw recently with Holyfield-Giantmoo.

Eugh.
Toney would be forced to attack and would lose wide on PTS.

my personal thoughts are that any fighters who come forewards to toney lose, straight up.
hopkins knows how to hold his ground and also can counter, but i think it will be hopkins on the outside, while toney paces forewards, waiting to shoulder roll nards right cross and come back with his own straight right and follow with the left hook.
most of the major exchanges i think would be won by toney but hopkins will cover up effectivly and stone face him.
in reality i think hopkins has more drive to win where as toney just wants to beat guys up which is why toney seems to not give a fuck and for that reason hopkins will stone face him and steal the rounds and out hustle him.
hopkins ud.
but lets not get it twisted toney is a solid top ranked fighte rtand a hellish head2head fighter but hopkins i dont think has the reasons to win....you could say toney has a much better chance against calzaghe an d calzaghe has a better chance of beatign hopkins....styles make fights and toney isnt stopping, outboxing, countering, outhustling hopkins. bernard i think gets beat by workrate and awkward agressivness as seen by calzaghe and taylor and also jones in a way (very awkward and threw alot of shots in combinations)
toney is aggressive but only if he can land without being fucked to walk forewards...his best wins are against guys who come froewards and are pretty dorment on the outside.
bad match up for toney tbh

This is more or less what I was thinking...I probably should have made the title 168 as well.

close fight but Toney has to be carefull for quick weight loss, mistake was made byChris Bird and Roy Jones..40 lbs or so is a lot to lose in a rapid time and fighters get weakened but if Toney is fight he is crafy enough and goes to the body well to make it a rough fight...B-Hop is crafty but he is not a speed demon like Roy...this one makes for a fight to watch

I just read in Fightnews that Toney was willing to come down to 185 to fight B'hop.
I don't know about 185, but at 175 Hopkins should get the better of him.

Bullshit
give real reasons for your position not your personal dislike for GBP and everybody involved with it.
Hopkins wins a wide decision if he stays on the outside and forces Toney on the front foot.

This is unlikely. Toney's style plays straight into Hopkins's.

Toney is a lot physically stronger than Hopkins. Toney is craftier and smarter and knows all of Bernard's little BS trickery. Toney fucks him up on the inside and parries and counters everything on the outside.

I'd like to back James here, but I have a tough time doing it.
I'd say Bernard wide UD. Toney gets a couple rounds just because the judges will say "Looks like I haven't given Toney a round in a while."

At 175 Toney could not beat Griffin he aint beating Hopkins. He is not beating 2000-2003 Hopkins at 160 either he has a chance against early 90s boxer puncher Hopkins .
Toney's game is waiting for guys to come to him so that he can counter them when he is forced to come after guys he is not nearly as impressive.

I think on there best nights Toney was a better fighter and was a more diversified fighter the Hopkins.Toney does not get the credit he deserves ,even RJJ said Toney was the most skilled fighter he ever fought.
