It depends on who has the better gameplan. They are simply the two best MWs of today. Reach and volume against one punch power.

Abraham wins this one. Better one punch power keeps Pavlik in the danger zone all night and Abraham is a much better boxer.

i think he can and i have always said this
Abraham has a decent chin and has lots of heart with KO power and good skills.
Pavlik is abit more 1 dimensional and dosent have the same power but has a decent chin
i would say abraham would win a UD
anyway it hink this fight will happen as there has been talk about it

AA has the edge in firepower, but Pavlik is the more active fighter.
Their fight could really go either way IMO.AA has always had some problems with mobile and active fighters.Anyone remembers his encounter with Kofi Jantuah??
Pavlik's chin will probably be the decisive factor.
If he can take AA's big shots and win most of the rounds he will manage to win a point decision over AA.If not,he will find himself lying in the ring dust somewhere between round 6 and 12.
Both AA and Pavlik are not invincible fighters despite the great hype around them.Golovkin,Pirog,Lee,even fighters like Gevor,Carrera,or Sturm are able to beat them on a very good day.I for sure would bet my money on either Pavlik and AA,but they, too, have weak spots.

1. A.A does have problems but pavlik is not a mobile fighter he is quite static and one dimensional he throws alot but dosent move alot. i think A.A can move around him and out box him
2. Pavlik has a decent chin but can be hurt and A.A carries some fire power and A.A has a granite chin
3. they are head and shoulders above the other guys i dont see any of them beating pavlik or AA

Pre-Hopkins I would have said Pavlik, now I don't.
The common opponent is Miranda - Was he just an over rated bully rather than a contender.
I think Pavlik will place safe for a while and probably after Rubio have a soft fight against Duddy before meeting a real opponent again.
I think Abraham should unify against Sturm then public demand will force a Pavlik match late in 09.

Yes,Abraham's hard counter punching after he parries Pavlik's flurries would be too much.

This will be a great fight. AA should win though and hopefully then move up and take on the best 168 fighters.

Yes, via K.O before the 10th round.
Kessler vs. Abraham is a 50-50 fight, and what a contest it would be.
I would probably go against the grain of European posters and take Kelly Pavlik to win a decision.

There are some questions about this fight I find impossible to answer in theory:
1. Will Pavlik be able to use his height and reach to keep Abraham at distance? If he can do that, he will be able to pile up the points with his workrate and stay out of danger.
2. Will Pavlik be able to break Abraham's turtle shell? Abraham seems to have perfect biomechanics for the turtle shell defense, very hard to penetrate.
3. Will Abraham stay as calm and confident when Pavlik throws punches, as he usually does, even if an opponent wins rounds?
4. Can Pavlik shake off a knockdown from Abraham the way he shook it off when Taylor knocked him down? Or is Abraham's power too much when he lands flush?
I favor Abraham slightly, I don't think Pavlik can win fights when he is not physically stronger. But he could gut out a decision with heart and workrate.

1. pavlik is good at keeping at range but A.A is good at slipping jabs and i think he can get inside
2. pavlik throws alot of shots so evenyually he will satrt to break through it.
3. A.A stays calm when being punched by bigger punchers (miranda) so i dont htink Pavlik brings anything new in terms of power or variety although he will throw quite alot but A.A should cope.
4. I think A.A has decent power maybe abit more than Taylor but Pavlik has a good chin and recuperative skills so i dont think Pavlik will be troubled that bad if he gets hurt. as he showed against hopkins no matter how far gone he is he will still stick in there.
I agree with you that A.A can win but pavlik is a live underdog IMO. I think this would be a great fight and really competitive.
heres another way of anaylising it
power: Pavlik has a bit more
workrate: Pavlik hands down
speed: A.A i think he is the faster and looser
movement: A.A uses angles to create shots and is a decent counterpuncher pavlik is fairly 1 dimensional
chin: Pavlik has been put down afew times but has a pretty good chin so i say even
heart: both have hearts in abundance but A.A went through a broken jaw so about even
mental attitude: both are pretty calm guys in the ring and are clever, but pavlik did look like he was being beaten by hopkins in the later rounds and didnt try to pull the fight out of the bag so i favour A.A
overrall: pavlik 2 A.A 3
i see a even fight with a slight edge to A.A but i hink he will be made a big underdog if the fight happens

I used to think Pavlick would be too much for Abraham but having watched Abraham a few more times and seeing how easy Hopkins could land on Kelly ive changed my mind i would pick Abraham.

Except for Abraham having the edge in true punching power, I agree with GPater11093...

Abraham should fight in the US some more to get his name a bit more out there.
I mean, the casual boxing fan probably don't know who Abraham is. Pavlik is popular and he could sell ticks easy imo.

Abraham would crush him late, if they fought at 168!
If they fought at 168 Abraham would demolish him. Arthur is killing himself to make 160, he is naturally bigger than Kelly despite being shorter, and he would be more active if he didn't have to suck so much weight.

well i debated myself with this and i think pavlik has alot of power with his natural strength and his technique.
whereas abrahams power comes from being more unpredictable and landing shots you cant see coming from weird angles

i agree with this
but it is A.As fault he is at midde its his choice, at 168 he would be a force and would IMO be the best but him and kessler are 51-49 in favour to A.A imo.
also i still think A.A is a decent middle and should be able to beat KP

Abraham is the real deal. Pavlik will not be able to hurt Abraham and Kelly is way to easy to be hit. I just dont see this fight going the distance.... Abraham KO by 7.
GPater11093

pantera i disagree
pavlik is fairly easy to hit but he has a decent chin and recuperative powers
he was hurt by Jermaine Taylor who is an excellant finisher and survived the rest of the round and recuperated and he lasted the distnace even though taking a battering by hopkins

@GPater: If you compare JT´s punchpower with Abrahams emagine what would happen IF Abraham catches Kelly with a shot like Taylor did....

Great post! :good I favor AA slightly in this one, but - to annoy all the Pav nuthuggers - I have to say that AA will KO Pav without a doubt. :)

While I agree with most of the things you pointed out, I disagree with this one, because Pavlik won't be able to come back from a Abrahammer. AA is an excellent finisher (and so is Pav), his bombs would make it impossible to recuperate without getting hit hard again.

Taylor doesn't have Abraham's power, and opposition includes a lot of blown up junior middles and welters, whereas Arthur's opposition has almost always been middleweights or larger.
If Abraham hurt Kelly the way that Jermain did the fight would be over.

Toss up fight.
Instead of that noname guy Abraham is fighting next, he should be giving Duddy a shot at his belt, in the US, to either further promote his name there and leave Pavlik without many options other than him.
Pavlik's people are not very keen on facing Abraham, it could take a while. I'd say there are Duddy/Mora, Sturm, and probably the winner of PW vs Winky ahead of Abraham in the quest to land a fight with Pavlik.
