A lot of people believe that this is Cotto's hardest fight, I certainly think so,many people say that Cotto has never faced someone like Mosley but he has fought people who have come close to Shane in regards to power and speed. On the other hand I think Shane has never faced someone with the sheer intensity and power of Miguel even with his great resume and most importantly at this point in his carrer. This is going to be a great fight and I can't wait to see it,but I have a feeling that Shane is going to be stopped for the first time in his carrer. Please let me know your thoughts on the fight, thank you.:bbb

I think he can win it. Cotto won me over as a fan with his destruction of Judah. He kept boring in and hammering away. I would like to see him and PBF to at it.

I agree 100%. People keep living in the past. The only thing people ever say about Cotto is how he was hurt against corley and torres. Who cares b/c he still overcame adversity and won by KO. Against Zab, he was stunnned but still won by KO. No knock on Shane, but the few times he was rocked in his career, he couldnt overcome the adversity to win the fight.

i just want to see how Cotto handles this fight with someone who will box with great speed and movement. I think cotto is a very good ffighter but i think he is not that good a boxer nor experienced enough to adjust in mid fight....i tip my hat to cotto because when he is in trouble he does turn it up a notch but he sticks to the same game plan though. He will definitely have to show some more boxing skills in this fight....this is the fight that i would finally give him his all the way just due...Juda was close but i would have given him more credit had he met Judah before the year layoff. Still a great victory though.

igotjuic3, what are you talking about man. Cotto is one of the best at ad******g during the fight. much like floyd, he says he doesnt watch tape of his opponents b/c he must be ready for anything. when he fought ndou and abdullev he had to outbox them going backwards for much of the fight. he doesnt simply just go in straigh ahead with power. he uses lateral movement and skill to wear his opponents down. if he didn know to adjust, he would have lost to abdullev, paulie, and zab. it's his adjustment skills that makes him so underrated and dangerous.

Yeah people say that his chin is weak, but the punch with Corley wasn't even in the chin it was on the side of the head, with Torres he got hurt but he hits very hard.I still feel that the difference will be the aggresion that Cotto will dish out I don't know if Mosley can handle that at his age.

no way he loses to neither..he mauled paulie and zab no adjustments needed...Zab had maybe one good round and hit him with good punches thats all. I cant speak on ther other fight cus i didnt see it....
Its not his adjustments and skills that people are worried about...its his heart and shear will along with a relentless body attack that has people worried....oh not to mention his power. I gurantee you this....if he sticks to those tactics he has been using and exposing his chin...Mosley will finish him. To say he is one of the best at ad******g is inaccurate.

I dont know IGOTJUIC3. i respect your opinioin, but one of cotto's biggest assets is that he is a very smart fighter in the ring. he figures out how to cut the ring off against very fast boxerrs. without those ring smarts, the faster fighters would be able to box circles around them. but i believe that once he figures out their movements, he can ADJUST midfight and then follow the brutal gameplan he always seems to have.

I don't see Cotto knocking out Mosley but I can see Mosley's corner throwing in the towel if the intensity is too great and somehow he ages over a round because of the body shots. Look to put this honestly just look at what Mosley said, Hes never been this excited for a fight in his entire life..And I truley think that he honestly means that 100%. Why? Because this is the fight of both fighters lives. This fight is huge for Shane Mosley's career I mean HUGE. Mosley is fighting for his legacy right now and everyone wants to knock a pair of the great fighters that are currently in their primes. (hatton/floyd/cotto) Who ever defeats 2 of the 3 or all 3 of these guys will go down in history as a very very great fighter. So in short this fight is just as important to Mosley as it is Cotto..I know Mosley has 2 big wins over Oscar but i think he honestly is more hungry to beat Cotto because he needs to overcome his losses to vernon and winky.
This is by far Cotto's biggest and most dangerous fight, who else has Cotto fought could be compared to SSM?
Both fighters have a chance, this fight is tough to call, just can't wait till it's on.

PR Boxing Lore, I truly don't root for either fighter and am tryin to write one unbiased article for ESB on both WBA and WBC welterweight title fights this fall and that will inevitably secure a big unification fight in early 2008 with the two last men standing, playing off the other two A+ quality fighters in the process - From what I have understood thus far, there is no indication whatsoever that Miguelito must do this or that to overcome Suga Shane. Angel Cotto is very large, broad-shouldered power puncher and an intense, relentless attacker so he'll come after Mosley as he did against Zab and as he always does, that's for sure!... But you cannot say that Miguel has fought people who came close to combination of power and speed to Shane or else I would ask who? Judah is a slick lefty with fast reflexes and good timing and to have scored big left uppercuts and left counters early on Cotto from his southpaw position but had no power/strength to follow them up effectively... Shane has not faced an undefeated former light welter and a welter champ, one shorter, compact and very dangerous body puncher but he has dealt with another intense, bigger, former two time light-middle champ in Ferocious Fernando not long ago, remember Vargas ( 26-2, 22 KOs in 2006) had only lost to ODLH and Tito Trinidad and was as much as a threat to Shane before he was out-punched and stopped in 10 and 6 rounds, former wbc continental americas welter titlist Jose Luis Cruz was also undefeated (30-0-2) and Shane beat him at 147 pounds - if you put Louie Collazo losing 9 out of 12 rounds for the wbc interim welterweight title along with David Estrada, Cruz and Fernando, I would say Mosley has a recent resume to back up his chances in this one too, just like Miguel has when he beat Quintana, Urkal and Zab in his three 147 pound title fights.

Cotto is great at ad******g in fights.
His workrate, hunger, youth, determination, and body punching will get him the decision, despite some rough spots along the way.

Sorry, I don't think Cotto will have any problems with Mosley. None whatsoever. Mosley isn't strong enough at 147 to hurt Cotto and that's what it takes to keep him off you. Cotto might TKO Mosley.
He kept boring in and hammering away. and thats exactly what will get him beat imo in this fight... i see shane catching him all night with faster, sharper punches, and when they trade, cotto will barely see the punches coming the way he fights, imo,

You have great points and I agree with you almost completely,I was only stating that Cotto may have a better idea of what he is going up against because he has faced lot of fighters with speed,of course not even close to Mosley in terms of general skills(power,speed,5or6 punch combos, stamina)in other words a class A fighter.Still, even having faced bigger guys like Vargas and Estrada who put a lot pressure, they are not Miguel Angel Cotto, in terms of aggressiveness there are few like him.Like I said before Mosley has the resume of course he can win no doubt about it, it's just that I feel Cotto's unique style of pressure is one thing he's never seen as Cotto has never fought a "Sugar" Shane Mosley.Looking foward to your article, thanks.:vonnecunt

Cotto might TKO Mosley.Mosley has more than enough at 147 to give Cotto all kinds of problems and plenty of pop to hurt him. If Cotto continues to expose that chin of his so much... it will be Cotto getting stopped.

Interesting fight. Mosley is BY FAR the best fighter Cotto has ever faced. Cotto will move forward and throw bombs, But he will have to be willing to take as good as give in this one to be successful. Cotto will have to try & outbox Mosley & not count on the knockout. De La Hoya couldn't do it in twenty four rounds. The big key is who gets hurt first, which could alter the fightplan in a big way. If Cotto gets stung & loses his aggressiveness, he will be deadmeat. If Mosley gets hurt & starts to backpeddle as against Forrest. Cotto's pressure will be too much. Either way it will be an interesting fight...

I am edging out on a win for Mosley, but only because of his experience at top lvl. Still - Cotto is the future.

Cotto in a war for the ages. Two great fighters one on the rise one on the decline (only slightly) and two guys that represent our sport as well as any one does.

I think Mosley will look descent throughout the fight but Cotto's body attack will take its toll and Cotto will take over and punish Shane.

Hey you bastard! Where we gonna see Calderon-Cazares huh?
This fight will be a hellish, punishing affair in which both fighters will lose a lot. I see Cotto coming out on top, or at least I hope because I'm a big fan, but it's certainly not guaranteed, even with a Mosley who has lost a step or two. He may not be the destructive force he was at lightweight or at his beginnings at welter but he sure can rise to the occasion. Regardless, i see both fighters taking rather detrimental punishment, which will not bode well for their careers. In regards of Mosley facing someone like Cotto before, he sure has and certainly Cotto's style is not a very difficult puzzle to solve. The key point is, as you said, "at this point in his career". Can't wait for this fight!!

:huh That's actually one of his greatest attributes in contrast to Mosely who tends to show his fustration but just turining up the action without a legit game plan.
