Kretschmann ( 13-0, 12 KO's ) gets his first big test when he meets Bakhtov ( 28-5, 18Ko's ).
The match is set for 12 rounds.
I think Kretschmann is better than he looks. Bakhtov is a solid journeyman, still in his prime. If Kretschmann wins impressively, I think he's ready make his move into the top 40.

Kretschmann is way better than Koeber (another german prospect), but he needs more time and more experiences. Bakthov is a decent opponent, but i think, that he won't be that big step-up for Kretschmann. Kretschmann should win clearly and fight german prospects (like Koeber did) to get more attention in Germany. For now, Koeber is more present in the media, although his fights tend to be boring as hell.

It's the right matchup for Kretschman at this point of his career. If he wins he will steal Bahktov's #14 WBA ranking.

Kretschman is a big young fellow with a good punch, but he looks like a stiff robot who doesnt know how to dominate a mobile opponent who hasnt entered the ring in order to duke it out with him.Besides his amazing lack of agression makes you think, too. He can probably go quite far in the paid ranks, but his matchmaker must do a pretty good job and choose opponents whose styles fit the young behemoth from Germany.
As for his upcomming fight with Bakhtov I for one think that he will come up against stiff opposition . The decent Russian journeyman has won his last 4 outings to a ring.Furthermore he is an experienced vet who has shared the ring with quite a lot of known names. He went 12 rounds with Juan Carlos Gomez a couple of months ago.
Kretscham better keep his nose to the grindstone and sweat in the ring and be mentally ready to go to battle or he will be in for a surprise.
Bakhtov is a good fighter, and Kretschman has to brace himself for a tough fight. This fight will surely tell us whether the young German is a dime a dozen or not.His frame of mind will be a very important factor in this upcomming fight.Bakhtov doesnt mind taking a shot in order to be able to connect with a shot.I am looking forward to watching Kretschman stand his ground against the cagey vet from Russia!

I am very much looking forward to this fight - can Kretschmann stop Bakhtov, he looks heavy handed from his record but does he punch as hard as it looks and who wins guys and how

He certainly has pop in his fists, micky! However, his amazing lack of aggressiveness makes me think.
He has the mental attitude of a anti war activist who cant stand seeing any blood.

when fighters take too much time not throwing it can mean they are worried about their stamina or want to win without exposing themselves to danger

yep! kretschman certainly doesnt like to take a punch in order to deliver one.
the size is there,so is the punch and the talent, but i very much doubt that he is mentally ready-so to speak- to go to battle and take out the knives for a death and life struggle.pro boxing is a mind game.kretschman is no mentally tough warrior in my opinion.he will find his match as soon as he comes up bloody stiff resistance and an opponent who fights tooth and nail.

the question is, does Bakhtov have enough to do it?
I highly doubt it
Bakhtov is durable, but seems to be fading the last few fights...
I think Bakhtov is a reasonable bet. The betting man would surely take the Russian.
Kretchschmann reminds me of Alexeev in a way.

Stoppage seemed suspect at first, but the replay suggested the Ref was right.
Kretschmann was like Bambi - he could barely stand. He'd have just got put down again if Bahktov had been let loose on him.
The Ref might have done Kretschmann a favour in the long term.
Some guys just lose their legs when they get clipped on the temple - David Haye is the same.

I think I want to kill myself
He was 80-1 to win in the 1st round and I was going to put 5 on it
Plus about 200 on the under 9.5.
Thats it. Pass me the pills

Wow, I'd only just started to hear about Kretschmann and now he's lost.
The feeling was that he's been managed pretty carefully but had potential, while Bakhtov would give you a fight but was on the slide.
Kretschmann should've stuck to boxing and not got excited by thoughts of a KO1. You back a fighter into a corner and you could be asking for trouble.

I am surprised by this result, but that's what a good journeyman in Baktov can do it a undefeated pretender. I don't think Kretschmann can bounce back from this.

Devastating? Hm! I dont know!
Bakhtov didnt really connect with any big punches.Nevertheless, down he went, young Kretschman!
Bakhtov's fist must have found the German's temple.......or vice versa.:D

I wasn't too impressed by what I had seen of Kretschmann and I knew he'd never even make an imprint at World level, yet this still was a bit of a surprise to me.
However you can't underate what an (extremely) experienced well skilled top end journeyman like Bakhtov can do when he's in against a prospect.
Hopefully Bahktov can get another decent fight off the back of this.

You are right,bigears!
A good and experienced journeyman is always a danger to an untested talent who gets used to knocking out overmatched foes.
By the way Bakhtov looked very poor(he was floored and almost put out of action) against American giant Cory Sanders whereas Kretschman easily outpointed the same opponent.

Hey Odo, wasn't it you who kept noting Kretschmen's strange lack of aggresion?

I wanna know what's going on with the natural-born German fighters lately. They've become nothing more than stepping-stones (Veit, Hoffmann), title-challengers who fall short (Sylvester, Braehmer), and now prospects who fail their first true tests (Kretschmann).
All this while guys like Abraham, Sturm, Erdei, Dzinziruk, and Valuev go to Germany and pluck titles. What's going on with the fighters from the Fatherland where men like Maske, Ottke, Schulz, and the Rocchigiannis used to be players on the world stage? This isn't a slight towards Germany but rather a legit question.

So there goes Kretschmann, he is not going anywhere. Funny, because he was thought of the German HW hope.
He showed really weak punch resistance, the first little shot to the temple made him do the chicken dance, yet he pretended the floor was slippery. Then he got hurt by a shot he actually blocked with his gloves, the next glancing blow to the top of the head dropped him like a sack of potatoes.

Steffen needs a year or two of serious hard rebuilding...... he was nothing at all when the heat was up and he folded like a cheap deck chair...........
mirageboxing.blogspot.com
Lets wait and see how he fares in his next 2-3 fights! Weird things happen at times.A good shot on the temple you are out! Who knows! He may come back and prove that he can take a good shot............on his chin.:D
IMO Amin Asikainen is just like Kretschmann. He folds like an accordion, but only from temple shots. There is nothing wrong with his chin.
