it happened. Maher retired between the second and third rounds. no knock-downs. It will be detailed in my forthcoming book, 'The Irish Champion." (i'm begining to sound like Apollack!)

Thanks. Do you have a primary source to confirm it? Anything local? Or is this based on something written years later? Is it true that Maher was drunk and his manager didn't want him to continue? Or was he just whipped?
