setanta have been great for boxing but apparently the future's not rosey because of them not getting the rights to Premier Football from 2010 onwards.
The Guardian are running a poll to see if people will keep subscribing after that date.
Could be worth us boxing fans voting a yes to give it a 'big up' ... especially if there bosses and money men pay any attention to the results.
Think we we only have a certain time to vote and link is ....

Buncey ... what's the news from behind the Setanta doors!!!

Well, I can't stand football, so unless the level / amount of boxing on Setanta decreases sufficiently, I'll still subscribe.

Just voted and it's at 73.9%. I have Setanta predominantly for the boxing and the boxing hour although i do watch the AFL and rugby, never watch football.

<P>The yes' still have it at 73.9%<IMG class=inlineimg alt=0 src="[Only registered and activated users can see links]" border=0 smilieid="3"></P>

<P>I have never watched one football match on Setanta so couldn't give a flying fuck if they stopped showing it altogether and just concetrated on boxing and MMA<IMG class=inlineimg alt=0 src="[Only registered and activated users can see links]" border=0 smilieid="124"></P>

Yep I voted yes, good call by the thread author. I watch the odd game on setanta but I prefer sky for football as it's in HD.

HD matters less for boxing as it is shown up close and the pundits on setanta are streets ahead of the corporates on sky.

Vote. Vote the lot of ya. Behind the scenes...still got the Bunce Hour, still got about 12 live shows lined up...still don't know about Marquez and Diaz...still fighting for all the fans.
Let's vote and show the media world that a few upset journalists should not be allowed to influence the public at large. Here's a question...when was the last time that the Guardian covered a British title fight?
Vote, vote and vote. It's simple. Thanks.

Adios.

Let's prove a point and vote heavily - the men in charge of Setanta (that would be the men that pay my wages!) also need to be reminded that boxing is a big, big part of the business.
Thanks.

Adios.

Just voted yes.

I wouldn't be able to live with just "Crappy Friday fight night" on Sky Sports, the rubbish "Week later replay - woeful commentators - not the fight listed in the paper - starts at the wrong time" Eurosport stuff, and the dodgy "radio stations";) that pick up the other fights.

Iv'e just voted yes. As long as good boxing is on Setanta, I will continue to subscibe. I would urge all boxing fans to do the same.

72.6% voted yes to keep Setanta. 7 Hours until the poll closes.

I voted "yes". I only really subscribed for the boxing, getting live UFC is just a great bonus.

I do watch a little bit of football, but it's hardly a deal breaker for me.

I only got it for the boxing, think it was the hatton fight when i first signed up. when they got UFC that was also a bonus and any football is a bonus too but Boxing is what I subscribe to it for.

Anyone know how many people have subscriptions?

I voted yes.
I subscribed when it was £4.99 pm for Calzaghe v Kessler but have stayed with Setanta and ditched SkySports.

Bunce, do you have any other suggestions for us expressing how important the boxing is to us maintaining our subs? Are there any customer surveys done etc? I know Setanta ask you when you subscribe which sports you're watching it for. I'm guessing all these responses are totted up and that is roughly the proportion in which the overall budget is spent. I made sure my old man responded with 'boxing' when he subscibed too.

I don't think I've filled anything like that Chinny but I did subscribe using the Hatton-JLC deal so I guess I'm in the boxing 'pile'.

setanta could use the money they save on football , which is a huge percentage of there outlay to bid for all the golden league athletics/every boxing match from america /buy coverage for the 3 major golf tournaments in america /buy uk domestic horse racing/
set up some new darts and snooker tournaments sponsered by setanta/ etc etc etc.

sky are paying £7,000,000 per football game for there bid so the 20 odd games setanta missed out on must come to a huge 100 million plus figure and most of the things i listed would fall well within budget and still have millions and millions left over.

what i know will not happen though , is that when setanta sent a letter out saying we are putting your subscription fee up from £10 to £13 because of our new football deal, that now they have lost the deal they will put the fee back down again.

voted yes. as long as setanta keep lfc tv , show some football and the boxing , i will keep subscibing. i subscribed before they showed any premiership football and im not going to stop subscibing because its reduced. without setanta we would only see 1 or 2 boxing matches a year from the usa (hatton and de la hoya) on sky. they only show golden boy invovling other fighters once in the blue moon eg mosley v vargas last year. if setanta dont show cotto v jennings will sky even bother showing it , its looking doubtful at this stage. if sky wanted to show it you would imagine they would have annonced it at this stage because of the deal with ******.

buncey , maybe you could show this poll to your bosses and maybe this thread as well as some other threads that discuss setanta on these boards to give them some feedback.

also there was a survey on the front page of the setanta website the other day asking what we would like to see more of etc. its now gone off the front page.

buncey do you know where its gone or could you find out or has anyone else found it and filled it up, we could all fill it up and let them know we all want more boxing

one off topic question , has anyone ever had any problems watching videos on the setanta website. every time i install silverlight and then go onto the setanta website an error comes up and the page shuts down. its ncp something and its to do with the silverlight add on. i have to go into internet options and turn off the silverlight add on to view setanta website but then i have no videos. i emailed customer services but got no response.

LFC tv? Didn't know Setanta owned the history channel.
:D

Voted yes, I hope it's not true about them being in trouble. We're finally getting to see quality boxing.

this is a boxing forum so im not getting into a football debate here but at least liverpool have more history to show than any other english club. still englands most successful club. football started before 1993 thankfully. things go in cycles and man u's will end soon when fergie and ronaldo go. this is about boxing not football but im sure some people subscribe to setanta just for lfctv , arsenal tv , celtic , rangers etc. so if it helps setanta to get more subscriptions then great , that will help the boxing coverage.

fair enough , dont think a boxing forum is a place to be getting into a football debate or slagging other peoples teams off. there is enough of football websites to do that.

As long as they keep showing the fights i will subscibe. They have been good for boxing and with guys like bunce on board who really care about the sport they looked like going from strengh to strengh.Im sick of football dominating every sports channel,i know its the nations favorite sport etc but there is way too much on.I hope setanta stays on air because sky seem to have little or no interest in anything other than ppv fights.Friday fight night is nothing more than a token gesture and they showed thier true colours with the Khan ppv debacle.Im sure im not alone in thinking that the quality of fights on fight night have got worse.I will go and vote.
