Clev KO1 Afrobum. Shit matchmaking by ******/Dean Powell. Clev broke him down with bodyshots and the Afrobum didn't fancy it and was counted out.

Hard to say isn't it

Didn't look like a stormer of a punch but it caught him clean enough right on the ribs

Body punches can be deceptive

But I suspect he could have got up and fought on if he'd really, really wanted to

sky must be pissed at ******. that 2 cards from them this year, both early KO's in mis matches.
wonder what the big fight coming to sky is, maybe marquez vs diaz???

Yeah, that's what I'm wondering.

This was a really poor main event from ******. Fights like this are loosing the Commonwealth belt's credibility.

Will it not be Khan-Barrera?

icemax

Wtf :-(

As soon as you hear African and LH in the same sentence you just know it could be a short nights work. Cleverley needs to step up....that was pathetic (not Nathans fault)

It is .

Looking forward to seeing Cox fight. He's looked good so far.

How does Barrera Khan being on PPV qualify as a 'major announcement'

Sky are a joke

cox looking a very very good prospect. any reason for him fighting at light middle for this fight? his new weight or just a one off?

this guy is one of my favourite prospects.

hope he stays at welter - in fact he's calling out brook so i guess he will be going back to welterweight

nufc16
02-13-2009, 06:37 PM
well he was talking about a brook fight so presumably he will be back to that weight. rushton looked out of shape, so i presume he was told rushton wasnt going to make weight so they just upped it to a light-middle contest.

icemax

Rushton always looks out of shape...the fat little fucker needs to stay away from the pies.

****** must ahve someone at Heathrow just pulling the first african who looks the part.... to be honest its a rip-off for the paying audience, most sparring sessions are more action packed and interesting

He has the talent to beat Brook but needs a few more fights under his belt. Really like his style and he has a lot of potential.

rooq
02-13-2009, 06:54 PM
yes, defintitely needs more fights. although with both fighting for FW i don't think they'll be facing each other in the near future

cox does look the part! Switches up and down very effective and has real power in his right too.

vs Brook would be a great match up...be interesting to see if jamie will go all the way (i think he will)!

lol@ Afrobum....good stuff :)

So they put this shit on Sky Sports and the semi decent stuff on PPV. Anyone feel like a petition is in order? Haven't Sky been allowed to fuck British boxing for long enough?

Personally when he comes up against a banger,he will be undone. At the moment he reminds me of khan in his earlier career, fighting bums and the press getting in fizz about it .

he has not had a tough fight, and his last two fights are against blown up super middleweight.

Beeston Brawler

I think fighting this kind of opponent does more harm than good.

He will learn absolutely nothing against guys that won't hit him back, and like snogging the canvas.

Nothing wrong with padding a record for ten fights or so, but they need to be LEARNING fights. Journeymen like Komjathy for the lower weights teach people a lesson or two and take them the distance - surely Frank could find decent guys at 168/175 to test Clev properly.

So a fat Dean Francis fights a journeyman and a potenial domestic capable of one day making the British top 5 fights a taxi driver from Africa. I almost shit myself when the commentator admitted the afrobums job.

Shit matchmaking. ****** and co are pathetic at times.

This is what I don't understand.

Why not just put Cleverly against Francis on the bill and a couple of supporting fights.

Quality >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Quantity.

The cab driver thing was hilarious.

Cleverly would own this version of Francis. I've said it for a while.

Whether Cleverly is a little vulnerable is besides the point, Francis can't get off with his right hand. It's easy to avoid a left hook. Cleverly's speed and activity would beat him up and stop him late.

I agree...but Africa, as far as I am aware, have never made Light Heavys full stop.

I will get chance to see Ajose at first hand in two week's time - rather than on FFN.

I always make sure I watch Africans when they fight in the vain hope that I will be seeing the launch of another Azumah...never seems to happen though. African record keeping is so shit you never are sure who is going to turn up.

Not really his fault, he had another opponent lined up and he pulled out at the last minute.

Bit peeved as Francis and Cleverly were supposed to be fighting, Francis pulled out with an injury but they didn't fight each other last night????

Joyi the IBO Stawweight champion is reportedly awesome. If he were to fight Roman Gonzalez and beat him he could well turn out to be one of the best African fighters of all time.

Boxing News described him as 'the best Stawweight in the World today' which is high priase indeed considering how good Roman Gonzalez is.
