View Full Version : What are the odds of Barrera-Khan being for the vacant WBO strap?
Nate Campbell has just failed to make the weight for his fight with Funeka but the fight will go ahead with the titles on the line for Funeka only.
So if Campbell wins, I guess the WBO title will be vacant.
I bet ****** will work his magic with the WBO to make them sanction Khan-Barrera for the vacant title.

I hope so, it'll show everyone that they're still a joke organisation.

Wales are 1/4 to beat England tomorrow.
The odds on this being for the WBOGUS title are much shorter. Sort of 1/1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000.
It isn't even a world title anyway, so who really cares?

Yes, but for the IBF.
The WBO might not strip him then, but its been 11 months since he made 135 so my guess is they will.

WBO rules:
Overweight Contestants
If a World Champion fails to make the prescribed weight for his category and the challenger makes weight, the Champion shall lose the title at the scales, and the Championship shall then and there be declared vacant. The Championship may not, however, be won at the scales. The fight shall be carried out as planned, and if the challenger, having made the weight, wins the contest, the challenger shall be the successor of the Championship; but if the prior Champion whose Championship was vacated at the scales wins the contest, the championship shall remain vacant.
If the Champion makes the weight and the challenger fails to do so, the Champion, whether or not he loses the fight, shall retain the title.
If both the Champion and the challenger fail to make weight, the Championship shall not be vacated at the scale and the fight will go forward as a non-title fight and the Champion, whether or not he loses the fight, shall retain the title.

That last part is strange.....the champion being stripped can depend on whether the challenger makes the weight????

That's pretty fucked up, but what do you expect it's the WBO.

Lets just hope Amir can take this chance to prove all the doubters wrong and join the likes of Gans, Leonard, Duran and Whitaker as the 135lb Kingpin.

With 1 fight in a year and 3lbs over weight, he isn't in the best shape ever.

When I read he'd been stripped I thought it would be Khan Vs TBA for the vacant WBO title in the summer. I never thought about the Barrera fight being for the title. That would be horrible. Shouldn't that guy who knocked Khan out be further up the queue?
It's going to be crap if Khan wins it with FW telling the general public that Khan is a 'world champion'.

Iy would be crap, but thats boxing. The only way that Khan could escape the label of paper champ would be to give Nate a decent payday...I can see that fight happening if he gets past Barrera

:rofl:rofl It's like that Sky advert before the Prescott fight. 'Khan joins the legends on Box Office' and then you see pics of Tyson, Lennox and Naz. We all know what happened there.

I doubt Campbell, he's 36, has just had 11 months off, is 3 lbs overweight and can't take it off. I'd be very surprised if he fought at lightweight again.
Campbell would hammer him. Campbell has old school inside skills. Khan fights like an amateur in there.
I'd put him in there with a feather fist like Guzman....and hope.
