I signed up for the Calzaghe v Kessler and have enjoyed the coverage ever since. I Sky+ the Bunce Boxing hour and enjoy the boxing shows, but am not so keen on the Sauherland deal as I fast forward most of it the next morning.
Football is a great plus, but I did not sign up for that as I have Sky for football. The problem is the cost of getting premiership football contrasted to the subscriber base if they did not have it.
They could still get footie subscribers by going all out for the Eufa Cup - lots of Spurs fan will sign just for that. Eufa Cup is all over the place on TV e.g. Channel 5, ITV 4 etc and clearly the competition's identity will improve with a consistant broadcaster.
I don't know how many viewers sign up for German, Dutch, French etc Football leagues? It may be they are paying over the odds for Padding.
Blue Square league - is probably a niche market which they could expand on non league/grass roots football
If they gave up the the European football leagues and ploughed this money into the boxing budget they could expand on fights. e.g Chagaev v Drummond, Clinton Woods v Muquri, Valuev v Holyfield, Skelton v Vidoz. Loads of shows from the states which never appear on TV over here, they don't all have to be Mosley v Margerito.
Snooker is in decline - a broadcaster could step in at a very low cost and get it competing with PDC Darts on Sky
Athletics, Cycling, The World Rally Championship, World Touring Cars, Formula 3. All sports which could be made for Setanta and could bring in subscribers.

I know this won't be a popular idea on here, but if it meant not losing the current level of Setanta boxing coverage, I'd be happy to see some fights - some - become PPV.
If Setanta get rid of boxing then I will cancel my subscription.
I rarely watch football on Setanta and apart from boxing I will watch the IPL which they showed last year.

If the monthly subscription was less than a tenner. People may then not mind PPV on fights like Haye v Klitschko.
But PPV should be kept for the big events, not as a hidden extra on the subscription

It would be great if they showed some classic older fights e.g Hamed, Tyson fights etc

As it is I'm effectively paying around £15 for a couple of fights a month, Bunces Hour, the UFC and Liverpool TV which is an OK deal IMHO. If the boxing went PPV more than a say a fiver for a really great fight 2 or 3 times a year I'd probably cancel and go back to watching the fights on the Internet Radio.

Good luck with the cancellation of setanta.
I was just offered 3months at 6.50 and accepted it (in january).
Fast forward to billing date 12.99 out of my account.
Apparently they put the request for the new price through but it did not get processed as they forgot.
I cancelled by email and phoned regarding a refund on the 6.49 they apologised and told me my next month was free and 6.50 the following three months.
I accepted if they would send me and email& post info out regarding the discounted months so I know its not gonna be 12.99 again. They stated they would do this.
Yesterday I got an email confirming that my request for an account cancellation had been receieved and was being processed. :huh

How about they make fights PPV to non subscribers because I really don't want to pay for them myself when I'm already paying to subscribe.

i must say this every week, boxing is not that popular, and the top fights are one at 5am.

And the reason boxing is not popular like it once was is down to in no small part to Setanta. If you minimize the amount of coverage the sport has on TV you get people actually going to fights.
Boxing was at its best (most popular) when you did not get these fights from the States every week...
Just showing the occasional super bill (once a year) from the States, the truly big fights involving British fighters, and a highlights package once a fortnight, would do boxing some favours and help with building up attendances to shows IMO.

boxing might not be as popular as some other sports but i think setanta view it as important. they have it listed after football at the top of their website compared to sky's website who have alot of other sports in front of it. bunce's boxing hour is repeated 5 or 6 times on setanta so it must be one of it's most popular programmes.
one solution to showing the fights live at 5am might be to show them the next day instead. last year setanta showed chavez jnr v matt vanda on a sunday at 12pm. i wonder how many viewers that show got. and would showing fights on a sunday be an option if the first showing would get as much viewers as the live event. this might be an option especially for some of the less popular fights.

Jeez sorry if not everyone has realised this but 'WE ARE FUCKED'.
Everyone but the BBC and possibly Sky are going tits up and people are not paying for things they do not need anymore such as ppv and Setanta etc.

Setanta for me is pure boxing. I'd like to see them up their boxing/ufc coverage even more and hopefully loads of fight fans will come out of the woodwork and sign up. They need to keep some things though like football. Thats the honey jar.
