Woah, it could be a real WAR.
I take Robbie by TKO 3rd, after 2 rounds of GnP to tire Melvin and softening him up.
IF Robbie fight smart.
If he bang toe to toe, well, Melvin by quick knock out.
But I do think Robbie will prevail. That would make him, one of the most legit MW outside of the UFC if he wins, if not the most legit, since Mousasi is going to HW.

I dunno, manhoef is a very heavy hitter and extremely quick with his hands. Only person to ever knock out the most solid chin in mma.

Manhoef KO 1. Too much speed and power for Lawler.

Manhoef has good wrestling and can scramble very well, add the world class kick boxing.
While lawler is a "Jack of all trades" fighter..

Forget about it. Lawler isnt going to KO Manhoef. Manhoef actually has a very good takedown defense and has only ever been submitted by some of the best Judoka`s in the world. Manhoef wins this by KO and early. Which banner is it under? Sengoku?

I don't know for that.
But if Lawler can make Manhoef gass, he has a very good chance of pulling this off. Lawler is a good wrestler, he can take Manhoef down. But, it's sure that the power of Manhoef, is crazy.

The guy is too devastating in the pocket. Lawlers getting KO`ed.

I seriously hope Manhoef comes back. Easily top 10 middleweight material.

Melvin kicks his ass....
Melvin's got way more power, and I've never been impressed with Lawler on the ground. So, a stand up war between a monster puncher and a guy that eats sloppy punches from Scott Smith. Melvin knocks him out in the first, as far as I'm concerned.

Manhoef by KO or TKO either in the 1rst or 2nd round. Manhoef's striking happens to be one of the best in mma (i would've mentioned crocop instead but we're not in 2002 anymore , gotta live with the present..)...
but anyway for now , Manhoef along with maybe , Arlovski & Anderson have the best striking. Only Manhoef is usually extremely aggressive in the 1rst...Lawler's chance is to find a way to submit Manhoef asap. But good luck with that...Last time the guy got subbed was against two judoka elites. It's not like he's getting subbed left and right...
Lawler also has the potential to ko him but it's not likely to happen...Manhoef is very fast too...so he needs to protect his face at all time...

Bad match up for Lawler, I think Melvin would make quick work of him.

If Manhoef is serious about competing in MMA he should talk to Affliction or Strikeforce (which it looks like he has). Bring him to the US, give him some competitive fights and exposure. And he will still be able to compete in Muay Thai and K-1.

Manheof has very powerful punches and his stand up is very good, i am not saying it's great but it's very good, Lawler is the same but he hasn't Ko'd Mark hunt, this fight would end with a KO
against a good bjj guy or a good judo guy both would be submitted if they don't KO their opponent.

Simon Rutz, Manhoef’s manager, said his client's schedule ruled out an appearance on the spring/summer cards. Manhoef’s next commitment was a possible appearance in a K-1 fight against Gohkan Saki on March 28 in Japan, followed by a Showtime-broadcast fight at the Amsterdam Arena against Stephan Leko on May 16.
Rutz was open to an offer from Strikeforce, but the numbers would have to be right.
“Melvin is one and a half years into three-year contract (with K-1),” said Rutz. “But I have some escape clauses in the contract. Maybe I could do something. But one thing is for sure: he earns a lot of money in Japan, and the problem in the United States, is that you must pay a lot of tax there.”

Lawler is just flat out outmatched on his feet, and will get almost certainly KO'd if he doesn't take Manhoef down.
That being said, where is this "Melvin has good wrestlng" coming from? Manhoef doesn't even have mediocre wrestling. Mousassi took him down in 30 seconds and had his back in under a minute.
So yes, on one hand his loses have been against good Judo or submission guys; but pretty much everybody who tries to take him down succedes; even though he did beat Dae Won Kim, Kim took him down and had him in side mount 2 minutes in.
It is still a scary fight as a Lawler fan though; he isn't exactly known for his discipline and gameplans, although they have gotten much better since his UFC days.

I used a poor choice of words as for wrestling but his sprawl is good.
He knows how to get the under hooks from a sprawl or even from the ground and he can hold it until he gets up to his feet.He also knows how to transition from striking to grappling avoiding under hooks from his opponents.

this fight is good but lawler seems to start slow where melvin dosnt. manhoef also can get sloppy in his casing the ko that could cost him against a good south paw. im picking lawler by ko in the first off a counter shot

Robbie Lawler was knocked out by Nick Diaz... He gets slaughtered by Manhoef. Lawler is good but nowhere near Manhoef's level. If he goes for a takedown it better be from a bodylock and get underhooks cause if he shoots Melvin can catch him coming in.

I dont get this matchup. What are they trying to do to Lawler? Manhoef is not known by casual MMA fans and they will fuckin see this guy demolish a known and semi popular champ. MAkes no sense.

Or it could hype a nice fight with Lawler vs Anderson Silva if Lawler wins this big.

It would be exciting but I don't think silva would stand too long; he has a real chance of losing on the feet, although I think his reach and no limits on clinching would help; but he is worlds better on the ground.
Preempting the Manhoef fans who will say Silva is "afraid"; Manhoef took down Nishijima after saying how nobody is willing to stand with him. He wasn't afraid, he is just reasonable.
