He's a good fighter when facing guys like he has been fighting, but the fact that he was KO'd cold in 19 seconds by Allan Green and looked like a dead man lying on the ropes leads me to believe the kid wouldn't have much success once he steps it up again. I wish him success though.

Codrington Shaken not Stirred!

Jaidon Codrington continued to speed along toward world championship contender status, but also showed glimpses of why he was derailed in the past, in his second-round KO of journeyman Carl Cockerham.

Still trying to shake the memories of his devastating first-round KO loss to Allan Green, Codrington came out throwing heavy leather and displaying his full arsenal of weapons. A left uppercut and straight right snapped back Cockerham's head and it looked to be an early night, but the durable Cockerham was able to land a big right and keep things interesting.

Codrington started round two by working the right hand behind the jab. A big left hook and a volley of punches backed Cockerham to the ropes, but Cockerham rallied with a flurry of his own to put Codrington on the defensive. Codrington weathered the storm, and resumed his attack.

Just when a series of spectacular combinations seem to put out the fire in Cockerham, a huge right hook hurt Codrington and had him on Queer Street. Instead of turning up the heat, Cockerham admired his work, and allowed the dazed Codrington to recover.

Codrington came back with a sharp left hook that snapped Cockerham's head and sent him to the ropes. A volley of 20 unanswered punches, several of which were blocked by Cockerham, inspired a questionable stoppage that brought a chorus of boos from the audience, but oddly, no protest from Cockerham or his corner.

Despite improving his record to 16-1, 12 KOs, Codrington's shaky performance raised some questions about how he would have fared against his scheduled opponent, the heavy-handed Omar Sheika, who pulled out of the fight last week.

With the loss, the game Cockerham falls to 12-14-3.
